First and last rider in the group having one seems good. I don't mind riding sweep if I don't have to go 100 mph all day.Larry
I'm sorry to slow you down to only 100 Larry.... I'm not sure about the rest of the group, but getting performance rewards is not my favorite thing. I normally ride 5 to 20 over, depending. An occasional jaunt upstairs, but on unfamiliar roads and LEO conditions... not so much anymore. I don't think KJ is a speed freak either, then again I haven't ridden with anyone on this ride yet.. If the group wants to knock down mile after mile at +100 they will simply arrive a bit earlier than I. Of course, if traffic is running at 100, and we can sneak into a safety pod between two zones of cages, then that's a different story all together.. :yahoo:

You guys have a great time. I wish I could make it but this work thing gets in the way.
Be sure to check out Shoshone Ca. Susan Brown owns the town- her family has had it for generations. There is a museum with some interesting history. Be sure to stop by the Crowbar. They have great food and drinks.
Jill,

I rode through Shosone and Pahrump (firecracker capitol of the world)

last year just to get to Vegas to bowl the fun way. I love those secluded desert roads

with nobody on them. In mid June it brought me to a medium boil 107/109 degrees.

Rode out of Vegas over the dam and down to Kingman Hwy 66 through Oatman back on 40

to Kelbaker Rd, 29 Palms, Palm Springs and over 74 to Ortega Hwy and home.

I slept good that night.

Is that museum in Shoshone the little old gas station with relics I remember?

There is just not a lot there..........a Chevy Chase head bob and your out of there.

I did stop for a squished snake on the road but I will check out the museum

and the Crowbar this time. Susan Brown Eh.........

Check with Barry on the Feb 2 ride.......are you going?

Larry
Yes , thats the place and your right, there isn't much there. It's just sort of a neat place. It's worth a stop.

Then again , there isn't much in Death Valley.

Dcarver,

That's what I like hear :) ...............Limit plus 5 or 10 minus one or whatever it takes to keep from being run over.

Do you like to ride in a two second stagger?

For a Group ride -

I don't care whether I lead or tail!

I rarely hit 100mph, let alone ALL DAY!

2 second stagger is OK, but I'm not a stickler!

My "taunt" is diving into corners! :D But don't always be following me,....RIDE AT YOUR OWN PACE!

Oh yeah, ...and without the earning of a performance award!

We should all "try" to communicate our "needs" for stops before we ride, and wait ahead if someone has disappeared.

Once in DV there may be breakout groups or other ride arrangements during the gathering of this ride, and that's OK!

Agree or Disagree?

Mostly... we should be out to have a safe, scenic, fun ride on our bikes (weather permitting)! :D

WW'sFJR rules of ridng,

I do have some rules:

Don't ride too long behind anything that you can't see in front of. <_<

Don't ride behind contractors, plumbing, swap meet vendors or landscapers.

Anybody carrying pipes. :dribble:

Garbage trucks. :stink:

Trucks carrying hay bales.

Anybody carrying plywood or holding a Cal King mattress on the top of their

car with one hand (Oh, ya it's been done).

Any sparky looking muffler draggers.

Try not to pass more than two double tractor trailers at one tine.

Be polite while passing most Harley riders. ;)

Slow down a little for black and white cars. B)

Wave Hi to the CHP bikes. :)

Live to ride the next day

Larry

DV riders,

Just thought I would share a little dusk photo I took last year

just outside of Titus Canyon.

Enjoy, :)

Love the sunset photo, and the rules of riding.

Who has more to add?

If the driver is holding a cell phone, mascara, coffee, morning paper, novel etc. Give them a wide berth.

When passing anything, use warp-drive to move through their blind spots.

Don't EVER assume that a driver is too stupid to...... (fill in the blank). They will amaze you.

Don't get suckered into letting others dictate your speed / line. Ride your own ride. Even if you're the slowest through the turns, the guy lying on the road with a wrecked bike is slower.

If your gut feeling says you shouldn't ride today, or pass that car, or take that turn super fast, LISTEN TO IT.

Have a great ride guys. Lots of fun, then come home safe.

Jill

... everything will work out just fine boyz n' gurlz... the speed factor will work out, the group will settle into sub groups as nature dictates, the fun at the dayz in will be remembered... just ride your own ride, know where in time/space continuim you are, and be happy, don't worry!

Christ, while you're in the area, come on over to 'vegas and we'll share a pint or two. If you truly run out of hotel options, you can usually find rooms in Pahrump, NV (also has full services including the Yamaha dealership where I purchased my 05).

Worldbound for now,

Thanks for the info on the Yamaha dealer in Pahrump..........good thing to know.

How is their tire selection?

Either ride is going to be good.. really good. This one was just a tad bit closer to the Hondarosa.. What's up with the FJR?

Is anyone not going becuase they could not get reservations?
and to follow up that thread, I need to cut expenses wherever possible. Tax time and all. If anyone who is a non-smoker and quiet or non snorerer sp? wants to share a room, that would make a room available should someone not be able to get one now. Did that make sense?

I cant make it as I already have something planed for that weekend, Already have my campsite reserved. But I'll make it to the next one and thanks to WW's FJR for the sugesstion. I'll give a try, and will let you know whats happens.
