Are you available today?

Are you available today?

Don -

No, I left the home front at 8:00 AM this morning after posting "here" in the AM, for Lompoc Honda/Yamaha.

My 26,000 mile valve adjustment was well overdue with 28,600+miles on the bike.

This service included a valve adjustment, oil change, radiator coolant change, TPS (under warranty), and rear end oil change, along with o-rings, crush washers, and a new air cleaner.

I am pleased with the Lompoc Honda/Yamaha dealer's service, and arrived here at home at 6:30 PM. A 170 mile day! Sorry I couldn't respond sooner!

I'll give you a call on Monday at work!

Is anyone not going becuase they could not get reservations?
and to follow up that thread, I need to cut expenses wherever possible. Tax time and all. If anyone who is a non-smoker and quiet or non snorerer sp? wants to share a room, that would make a room available should someone not be able to get one now. Did that make sense?
Dcarver,

I'm thinking of riding out from Abq NM for this ride and would be interested in sharing a room. I'm a non-smoker, don't snore, reasonably early to bed early to rise kinda guy (55y/o). My only reservation is that if we get hit with a snowstorm a couple days before the ride in DV I'd have to cancel. Do you have someone to share a room with yet?

I just called the Stage Coach and they're full but are taking reservations for another hotel they're remodeling in town, the Death Valley Inn. She said the rooms were done but they were still working on other aspects of the hotel (swimming pool, reception, etc.)

It's about a mile away from the Stage Coach. Same rates and cancellation policy.

Dcarver, I'd still be interested in sharing a room but wanted to reserve my own just in case you've already got company.

Khunajawdge / DV Riders:

The Stagecoach Hotel and Casino is noted full.

Good restaurant and a small casino.

Jump onboard if you know of a better place where we can eat.

Food note:

The Rock Inn has the best BBQ Pork sandwich I have had in a long time.

Thanks Barry......

Here's a link to the other motels in Beatty, Nevada.

Worldbound for now,Thanks for the info on the Yamaha dealer in Pahrump..........good thing to know.

How is their tire selection?

WW"s FJR
I truly don't know. Never bought tires from them. In fact, never bought anything from them except for my FJR, 4qts of oil, and a filter. They're more of a quad/dirt shop than anything. I do all of my maintenance myself. In a pinch, they could get you parts and do repairs needed to get you home. Anything more and I haven't a recommendation. In fact, the only reason I purchased my FJR there is because they beat an online ad for me (walked OTD with 05 ABS for 11600).

Have a great time in DV all. I was hoping I could meet up with you but I need to stay home with my daughter. TTYL

Not many places to stay out there in Death Valley. One place I would not stay is the motel or cabins that Furnance creek has to offer. It is pretty spendy. I stayed at a cabin in June last year cost was $121.00 and the air conditioning did not work very well. I f you stay at the rooms in the motel cost goes up to $160.00 i believe.

Good luck on finding reservation when there are not very many choices

KindofBlue - Room still available, sounds like we're roomies! I'll check to ensure all is still good, that they remember me and the reservation number... No problem if you can't make it at last minute; hey, can't stop the weather... I'm looking forward to this ride!

OK, I'll cancel my reservation at the Death Valley Inn and share with you. If anyone else is looking for a room, grab mine. Make the reservation through the Stage Coach Inn (they own the DVI). What is your name anyway, DCarver? And would you please put my name, Reid Hester, on your reservation? Thanks.

Welcome Doc Reid! We'll see you in Beatty, No?

You will get the long distance award on this one!

We need to keep an eye on the weather, but tomorrow I'm mounting up a new rear doughnut! :hyper:

Everyone else is good to go,"me thinks"? :cowboy:

Rode down from Grass Valley to Bishop Friday night, saturday we rode into the park from Lone Pine. Picked a up backroads map at the info center in Lone Pine for a dual sport ride this weekend(Titus Canyon, Racetrack and Bakers Ranch) Stopped at Stovepipe Wells for gas at 1 pm it was 64-real nice then Back to Bishop via Scotty's Castle. No rangers or Leo's anywhere :yahoo: , not even at the north Gate. Didn't have to pay the ten bucks!

I have done Titus Canyon and Echo Canyon but would like to hear from any of you dual sport guys who have ridden to Racetrack and beyond also Bakers Ranch Etc. - send me a PM.

Have fun Pres. day weekend but watch out, that is known to be an extra busy weekend in the park so Leo's may be lurking about.

PS Sunday morning we rode up 395 for an hour with 20 degrees at 74 mph, no FJR heat complaints from me

My plan is to leave Abq Wed. a.m. ride south to Socorro, across the plains of San Augustine (VLA country, a sea of grass, beautiful), then across the Whte Mtns of eastern AZ to Payson. Probably overnight in Payson (hotel recommendations anyone?) then ride across central AZ on Thurs. to L.V. I'm gonig to stay with an old friend in Vegas Thurs. night then ride up Friday morning to DV.

Anyone from LV coming that might want to ride together from there to DV?

I'm thinking I may ride into DV from Shoshone taking 178 in and stopping at Badwater, the Natural Bridge, etc... I've never been in DV before so will be riding around as a tourista.

It sounds like some of you may get into DV by mid-day. Interested in meeting up at Furnace Creek or some such place for lunch? If nothing else I'll meet up with you all Fri eve at the Stage Coach.

Khunajawdge since you seem to be organizing this I'll PM you my cell, preferring to do that over posting it on the web.
