Anybody staying the night of the 23rd? I'm down, but there is no way I'm going down there and only riding 1 day. That are is too much fun for just 1 day of riding!

If I go I will be riding on the 24th, and probably staying that night too. Will probably head home monday.

I'm in with the usual family caveats. Saturdays ride looks like fun, and I'll keep an eye on the thread for Sunday plans. I've got family in the area, so I'll be staying with them.

I've gotta go to an engagement party on the 22nd.

I know, I've never heard of an engagment party either, but it is for a good friend who has been dating this girl for almost 20 years...that's right, 20 years.

Maybe I can catch up with ya'll Saturday morning.

Is the plan to leave from Sweetwater? If so, what time will the train leave the station?

Yes, leave from Sweetwater at 10am if possible, but have been known to leave later for people coming late or on the way.

Great! I should be able to make it to Sweetwater by 10:00.

Thanks,

Hola Heidi,

Yep, its looking like maybe only keithaba and maybe one other is looking for the Sunday ride as well. I haven't committed ... yet because, your right, it is along ride to Knoxville for just one day of riding!

How about WV16? You've been itch'n to ride that road? There's a Friday out to it, Saturday ride it, Sunday come home kinda trip!

Crap, I can't go.

Just found out my parents are coming to town that weekend!

Oh well, do it again in spring or fall!!!!!

Uhhgg! Timing, timing, timing. It's always timing. I'd love to go, but after being gone all last weekend on the Husqvarna to Durhamtown, then leaving Thursday morning (yes, Valentine's day) for the Indy Dealer News MC trade show (won't be home 'till Monday night) ,taking off again Friday for the Triangle would likely put me in the proverbial dog house for a VERY long time. I know better than to be gone 3 weekends in a row.

You guys have fun, and watch out for the wet spots in the shadows that never seem to dry up in the winter.

Another “possible” here. Gonna follow the thread. Will sign up when/if “Kitchen-Pass” is approved! LOL

Faults: Certifiable member of CBR!

Fancies: Road Kill. RoadKill Café sounds good to me. Gotta make a stop there someday.

I'm going to preview the ride before-hand to make sure of the route, and make sure no construction or detours are there to goof up the ride. Right now it's still a go.
By “preview”, do ya mean you’re gonna ride the route before the meet? If yes, when do you plan to do that?

ANYTIME someone from here hits WV16, drop me a line. Maybe we could make this a fall or early spring trip? Meet up heading down 16 and from there on to the Triangle? Hope to have lots of time this year to ride!

Apologies for the hijack, back to you sir!

Its looking doubtful for me as usual. I was out of town for 5 days 2 weeks ago and have to out of town for a few more days in a couple weeks. I always have a hard time with these long range plans.

Have fun, ride safe.

I'll make that triangle some time this year (I hope).

I'm hoping that I can meet up with the Eastern KY group ride in April. Looks like I maybe able to hookup for a day while I'm on vacation....we'll see.

Is this ride still on?

Looks like a lot of folks have dropped out.

If it is still on, how many do we have?

The wife and I are planning on comming...good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

Mr Twisty and ngarider: I scouted the ride yesterday and wanted to give you a review.

All good rides start at Cracker Barrel

Some of the scenes riding over to Devils Triangle.

If you think the roads at Devils Triangle will be like the Dragon or Cherohala skyway you will be disappointed. The first two thirds of the ride is on patched road with salt spread about with gravel coming off driveways onto the road. There were three challenging swithchbacks going up hill that looked kinda like this, only with fine gravel and salt mixed in:

The last third of the ride had six miles of wonderful road that reminded me of the snake on Hwy 28 below the dragon. If there is still interest in doing this ride I would like to do it again, but I was disappointed on the condition of the road and I thought there were more twisties there. Just getting out and riding is great, but add a lot of curves and it makes it a lot better to me.

I suspect it would be a better ride later on in the year, when the rain has washed the gravel and salt off the road.

The ride took six hours with about 4 stops and a little over 200 miles. The weather is saying partly cloudy right now and up to 61. I wanted to give you a realistic idea of the ride before you go. Let me know if you still want to go and I will meet you at the motel at 9:30 and leave at 10am.

Perhaps we should move the ride. The North GA mountains were great yesterday. :yahoo:

Let me know, I am ready to ride!

OK, Devils Triangle ride cancelled due to poor road conditions.

Where do you want to meet in North Ga mountains? Dales at Suches? Saturday Morning is good for me, tell me where and lets meet and ride together.
