Did you have the guts to change the spring tension on your throttle?

I rode my '06 home from the BMW dealer where I bought it (480kms) and my wrist was sore for 2 days (not enough excercise?)

Did the TS unwind and the G2 throttle mod at the same time. Less stress on the wrist and smotther roll in. Downside of the G2, is the wide open position is farther into the throttle. Ridden about 1000kms since the mod and no problems. Throttle shuts down by itself and shows no disposition to stick open.

Uh oh! I am missing something again. Whats going to happen to my throttle spring thats going to make me have to change it or replace it? I already didnt pay attention about the ignition switch and it bit me!

Deep breath......

Okay. Not to worry. Your throttle spring isn't about it airmail itself to Santa Barbara. It's not gonna e'splode. Everything is fine.

There's just a large contingent of limp-wristed Feejer Pilots who can't handle the manly twist of the stock throttle and unwind the middle of the 3 throttle return springs by 1 revolution, effectively decreasing the throttle resistance some ladies'-blouse-wearing Nancies can't seem to deal with.

If you are happy with your throttle return tension, pay no attention to the guys in taffeta jumpers and drive the damn thing.

If you ARE unhappy with the tension, plug "+unwind+throttle+spring" into the "Search" function and read to your heart's content. There's enough there to keep you busy for DAYS!

Also if you are unhappy with the tension, you might want to check out THIS link.

:) :) :) :) :)

You know Howie, the ones yelling the loudest about how tough they are usually have a complex for a good reason. I'm not say'n, I'm just say'n. :ermm:

Of course they have a good reason. I just outlined the reason right above your post. :)

And in all fairness to the Julie Andrews-types on the board, I once had the impression the tension was too tight, as I mentioned earlier in this thread HERE, but the issue faded from my perception, never to return.

edit: Someone wake up Iggy. This thread's about to go to NEPRT without his help, but he should be told it packed up and left on its own. :)

18 Testosterone replacement has also been shown to enhance libido and the frequency of sexual acts and sleep-related erections.

from the aforementioned link

wonder if my wife has been secretly replacing my testosterone :D

I guess you can count me in that number. Of course, I am of the "older" riders here and the combination of large hands and small throttle grips makes it uncomfortable for me on long rides. I've tried larger grips/padded gloves and haven't found any that "fit" of are comfortable for me, so the "spring-release-modification" solved my issue as it was claimed to do.

I did the mod on my '04 and as soon as I got the '05 I did the same, a combined total of 46K + miles. Of course, as with all modifications and farkles, I double checked the clearances and free play figuring that was MY responsibility because I was changing something from the OEM factory spec, just as it would be MY responsibility to close the throttle or use the kill switch should the throttle ever not close on its own.

YMMV

That's NOT MadMike on the right... :)

Maybe if your other bike is a Harley, and your favorite tool is a hammer, then leave the sping alone?

However, if your other bike is a Ducati, and your favorite tool is a torque wrench, consider adjusting the spring.

As for women's blouses, please post lots of pics of WOMEN in (or partially in) blouses.

thanks,

fng Kurt
