So i was turning the bike around to pull back into the garage after washing it. Doing my best low speed tight turn with feet still on the pegs - Lee Parks would have been proud. All at once the bike just fell over :eek:mg: - I am like what just happened!! Of course cannot pick it up by myself as still recovering from a fratured wrist in a racing accident, so have to get my soon to be step son to help me - talk about humiliating.

Pulled the bike into the garage and as I am backing it into place and turn the bars to the left hard the front wheel locks up. Turns out I had either moved while washing it or somehow bumped the right mirror in. During a hard left the mirror hit the front brake lever. Talk about being a dumb sh*t. Now have a couple new scratches to match a few others by equally stupid drops.

Like my grandmother used to tell me after I tore things apart to see how they worked - "You just cannot keep anything nice can you".

I suffered from the same malady and received the same admonishment.

That's why I don't "wash" mine I use Bugslide to keep mine look good.

From the site:

BugSlide, the X-Treme spray on and wipe off Cleaner, Polish and Bug Remover. BugSlide is waterless and is specially formulated to deep clean and polish your vehicles to a brilliant shine, while adding a protective coating.

I am not affiliated with the product in any way other than being a satisfied consumer. I really like the job it does for me.

That stuff seems a tad expensive....I prefer to use this stuff on everything: bike, helmet, visor, etc.....Clicky

You guyz are missing the boat. I say we make the OP the bike parking lot master of ceremonies next WFO/NFO/WhateverFO!

I'm pretty sure the whole problem was: You didn't have your inside knee down, weighting the outside peg, and supporting your weight on your feet, and you weren't looking "through the corner". The mirror hitting the brake lever was a red herring.

Lee would be very disappointed, actually...

I agree...sounds like the Master Yoda Position was not in use.

And, were you wearing any gear during this get-off?

Wow...just...wow (what would this have been like if it started tomorrow?)

The older ya git, the less dip **** stuff bothers ya...

I kinda like Carver's WhateverFO idea....

Sounds like fun....

Lessee, as I remembers my Ohio mapology and remembering the words of dear old Ghoulardy on late night Saturday TV...

isn't Lorain perilously close...

to....

Parma ??????

:p

 Sorry to hear, but there's them that has & those who will.

Boy, oh boy.

Potential hazards lurking everywhere.

Thanks for the heads up!

We met in Ashtabula,

She was doing the hula.

I can't go to Parma cause my Edsel will not run

That's why I always paddle the bike with my feet and the clutch pulled in in a 5 point u-turn. None of this "tight turn" stuff for me! NO WAY!

lol.

Great story!

OK, I've had a couple a drinks...

Here's my dipshit move...

Had been riding trials all day on the Montesa...

Came home and rinsed it off and took it to the barn.

Saw the Triumph street bike there in the barn, and took it for a quick spin. Came back home and gave it a wash and wipe down. Had a couple a beers and sat back, admiring what a beautiful bike it is...

Got ready to put it away, and started it up, stood on the pegs, (trials style) and was going to u-turn it around in the driveway....

Oops....

:)

edit...

It must be something about washing yer bike.... :dntknw:

Never in my life...last month...that I have dumped my bike in a stupid way...put foot down on edge of driveway...that left scraches...even cracked the front fairing...and left me feeling like sh@%...so embarrased quickly ordered a new front faring before my friends saw it $140.
