Alright… I need the space in my garage, so I am gonna scrap out the remains of my '05.

This is an uncharted territory for me so I could use some advice.

What I have:

Complete engine, frame, handle bars, …

What I have yet to save (?)

I am going to dig the starter out (Fairly new),

*Foot pegs

*Ignition

* Nuts and bolts have been spoken for

*Drain Plugs

What else should I save for the Gen 2 ?

How about scrapping procedures?

Fluids drained, Non-metal parts removed (?)

Any advice would really be appreciated

Thanks,

To save some time Tony, have you considered seeing what a M/C salvage yard will offer for the remains? Don't know anything about the biz but it seems there is some value to be had from the parts, especially a complete frame with title.

Typically, when you scrap a motor vehicle they take it will all of the fluids, tires, battery, and whatever else is normally part of it. You may get a few dollars more for the scrap if you take it apart and separate the different metals, such as aluminum, but the difference in price would not justify the time and work involved.

John, You know I need to scrap this bike and sell my BMW Dakar fast so I can grab up Kevin's Tenere!

Got the starter out… If you have ever replaced the starter, then you understand PITA.
