Sorry to hear about both those guys medical problems. But I fail to see how this faux charity ride helps anyone there. If you believe in a charity such as this then just make a donation, or better yet volunteer your time. i don't get how getting "dressed up" and prancing around pretending to be something you aren't helps. I don't know a man alive that isn't already aware of prostrate disease. There will always be some that choose to ignore their symptoms. At their own peril
Sometimes Fred you are such a piss ant. Do it if you want and don't if you don't, what do I care? Things may be different in the wealthier northeast but down here in the more rural parts (read POOR) where hospitals & clinics are closing one after the other and doctors are leaving, many folks have no access to nor the money to pay for what you seem to consider "the little things" like even a simple PSA test. Folks here in the deep rural south generally don't have internet (yes Fred, I work with several), don't have smart phones and still, hard to believe I know for someone as world-wise as you, don't have much higher education. Ridden through backwoods NC or SC or the flat lands of boondocks GA or AL or MS lately?

You need to get over yourself, maybe crawl back under that asocial rock you live under and STFU. I ain't rich, apparently as you are. I work a lot of hrs, as many of us here do, just to keep our collective heads above water. And if I'm lucky enough to have a day off, have the opportunity to meet new folks, peruse some fine machinery be it 2, 3, 4 or more wheels, visit with friends 3 or 4 hrs down the road, and still get the manly happyhappyjoyjoy feeling of maybe helping someone in some small way then- again- what's it to you?

+1, Gunny; rbentnail I also enjoy Charity Rides, there are four I participate in each and every year!

Cardon Children's Hospital Ride, this Clinic supports young folks from Toddler to Teens with Cancer.

https://www.facebook.com/BannerChildrens At the front of our FJR/BMW Group is Forum Admin Greg "SkooterG" Marbach:

Autism Society Support Ride, Son Seth is Autistic so this particular ride is near and dear to my heart!

https://www.autismcenter.org

Toys for Tots Ride with the United States Marines, if you go to SW Section you see I always post this!

https://phoenix-az.toysfortots.org/local-coordinator-sites/lco-sites/default.aspx

You can ask extrememarine Wayne and Intech - **** You Bob what Papa Chuy Viejo thinks of USMC, but one day a year I lighten up:

BeemerDonS and "Sarge", I refrained from telling him what this Army Veteran thinks of Marines: "Seagoing Bellhops!" and "Jarheads!"

Miss Donna donating her "Barbie with Accessories" Gift, BeemerDonS donated a Tonka Race Car Hauler truck with four race cars.

https://www.phoenixchildrens.org Phoenix Children’s Hospital is the annual charity ride partner for the CycleFest charity ride. On Saturday, April 5th riders all across the valley will gather at Phoenix Children’s Hospital where they will be assigned a patient that they will ride for. The ride will start from the hospital and be escorted by Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Motorcycle Officers.

Lets try and stay civil. These are devastating diseases than can use all the research they can get to try and find cures.

There are some folks who like to participate in big events and get pleasure out of the process. If, along the way, a chunk of money is spent to cover the overheard to hold such an event (leaving less for the charity), then at least there SOMETHING that gets to the charity that might not have been received otherwise.

Agreed... things that affect those that we care about are highly charged and emotional... don't take offense at someone's opinion as it may read differently than what they meant... and I think all of us agree that we want to do whatever we can to help whoever we can however we can... when I was younger, I was talking to my mum about how frustrating it was because I wanted to save the world... she said, baby, do whatever you can to save your part of the world and, in doing so, you'll hopefully inspire others to do the same... and in that way, we all can have a part in saving it. B)

I thought the website of this event was well worthy of the "pretentious" tag I hung on it--nothing to do with the cause or the seriousness of the disease. Google it and read it yourself, like I did. As Fred said, I (and most of us) are pretty freaking aware of prostate cancer, and lots of other awful things already. And any comments that have been made here about this particular event have absolutely zero to do with any sufferers or victims of it, or any other affliction.

But when people post personal attacks on other members due to some perceived lack of solidarity to some cause you may like, whether or not it has any direct personal bearing on you or your life, you've gone way over the line, at least for a motorcycle forum like this.

So, is it that BeemerDonS hates what I have said so much that he is calling me a ************, and that he is willing to commit a violent crime, and go to jail over a difference in opinions?

Is that what he's saying? Really?
