I'm going to install a headlight modulator and some bright-@$$ brake lights. I've seen where some people have installed fuse boxes and other things to boost the electrical power of the bike.

I wouldn't think I'd need those for these projects, but wanted to be sure.

A fuse box (otherwise know as a power distribution block) will not increase the power output from the stator. If anything it reduces it by introducing resistance, but since that is negligible you don't need to worry about it. The distribution blocks are to make adding multiple accessories simpler, that's all.

For the accessories you are talking about the FJR has plenty of wattage, a headlight modulator and brake lights draw very little power. Now if you start running heated vests, pants, gloves for you and a passenger you will need to do some arithmetic.

Thank you for the mini education about the PDB and helpful info. There's a ton of things to learn from everyone here. I'm always glad when someone adds to my knowledge base.

HeHEM.......yer not gonna learn from everyone here..........................

No! You don't say. Gee, let me think who that could possibly be.

Now, there's a head scratcher.

Mr. Toad,

The first person that responded to you didnt see that you mentioned "and other things", in addition to a good fuse block connection that he explained correctly. I see that you have a 2004 FJR which needs more Wattage compared to the newer '06's and up. You may want to check this out if you are going to be running HID's and other high consumption gadgets.

I put a new stator in my 2005FJR and it works great with plenty of extra juice. I did "chicken out" and have the dealer put it on for me because I didnt want to mess up any warranty stuff.

Also check out a cool install of a Datel Volt meter, here on the Forum. One of the FJR bros even put one in his rear view mirror. I installed a Datel myself and it is great to know how many things you can turn on at one time without draining the system below the critical 11.5 point. I got the Red colored readout to spare the night vision, instead of the Blue.

Hope this helps.

I saw it, "and other things" is in reference to things people have installed "to boost the electrical power of the bike", not to things Mr. Toad is planning on installing. ;)

Wow! That thing looks a little scary. Isn't that the same thing that IronMan has in his chest?
