I thought I'd check these splines and learn more about my bike and I'm glad I did. I've got an 05 and they are completely dry. Wow!

Anyway a few questions.

I'm assuming there's no messing no fussing with the end of the shaft that fits into the pumpkin and that end is good?

Other question is that I don't have a larger spacer on the brake caliper side. I just have the one thinner washer. I have an ABS model though so I am assuming this spacer is built into the sensor ring. Am I correct?

I'm following the articles on FJRTech.com and FJRInfo.com. Thanks!

Also one of these articles mentioned using the thingy in the OEM toolkit to help get the rear axle out. Good call it worked very well!

I just did mine about two weeks ago. Yes, the pumpkin end is ok. You can take it apart, but don't think you have to so I wouldn't, in fact, I didn't! Mine wasn't dry or corroded. I cleaned it up and put the Mobil 1 synthetic grease on it. A lot of folks here use the Honda Moly 60, but I never found anyplace that had it on hand.

Check (correct) on the spacer on the rear wheel. I only had a big washer looking spacer on the right side (looking forward). The hardest time I had was aligning the ABS ring - it was handy to have Lorie'd extra set of hands.

Huh, I don't remember reading about the OEM toolkit thing to help get the axle out.

The mention of the OEM thingy is in this article which is similar to the other one on FJRTech.

Damn hope I got it back together correctly. It's not like it's difficult but something doesn't seem right.

You put the spacer washer on the right side between the swingarm and the caliper mount, the sensor ring between caliper mount and the wheel and then slide the axle through all of that right?

I need to eat something I'm freakin going hypo.... :)

This link shows the correct spacer location: https://www.fjrtech.com/getdbitem.cfm?item=34

The OEM tool kit?

Geez, has anyone else here never so much as even thought about cracking that open?

Since day 1 I've relied on the finest hand tools Sears and Roebuck has to offer  .

Yea well there's a little handy thing in there for getting the axle out. It fits right in the end.

Many thanks for that link.

I am all done but I still want to review and make sure everything is cool. Got a big trip coming and I don't need any road drama!

Don't know about the rest of you folks, but before I take something apart on the bike I always take pictures. Figure that even if it looks funny as long as it looks the same when I'm done as when I started I'm good to go! I have a whole file of "what it looked like when I started" pictures.
