+1 on Moab. I came through there for the first time on the way home from WFO-5. It's just spectacular. When planning your route in or out try to incorporate some of Southern UT. Canyon Lands, Moab, Lake Powell just spectacular
On the way back home from WFO, Pending and I rode down into Glen Canyon and Lake Powell and took the ferry across the lake. The trip is only about 15 - 20 minutes, and you have to drive on sand to get to the ferry, but it was easy and fun. Lucky for us it was only 111 degrees that day. The ferry isn't anything spectacular, but the ride in and out of the recreation area was like riding on Mars. And the roads are SUPER.+1 on Moab. Since it will be the same time of year, I'd recommend that anyone who doesn't have a TuffRhino Mira-Cool Cooling Vest, or the equivalent, should get one to go under their riding gear. <==== That's me to the left, charging mine up in Lake Tahoe in the middle of a 100F ride.
I was there in September and though boiling in the lower elevations, it was quite pleasant in the canyons. High 80's IIR, and dry. In any event, the scenery and roads will smite any ill feelings from the heat and there are plenty of streams to jump into to, um, Ari-ate.+1 on Moab. There ya go! That's a great attitude - good on ya, PS! :good:We already booked reservations. That is, 2 nights in Zion, 2 at the N. Rim, 1 in Torrey, none in Park City yet :dribble: , and 1 in Vegas.

Blow me! Go crawl back under the sheets! :bleh:
Er, eh, Mountain Dew?...............PM. <>< :dntknw:I've got dibs on buyin TWN his firstbeer- double Jack Daniel's rocks - assuming that there's any to be bought.
Hmmmm..... maybe Ize just gonna hafta bring some, eh?
We'll be able to pound down at the Marriott, no problamo. The liquor laws in Utah may read kinda strange, but I have found in actual practice, they don't really impact anything. Maybe Cdogman or Go Far can elaborate further, since they live there. Can we drink in Utah at the hotel without being club members or having a sponsor? What's the scoop on the liquor laws in UT?
That's not entirely true. I had an issue getting ****-faced after the Awards Banquet last year.... of course I had to get going on my 800+ mile ride home....The Utah 1088 has been held in two different Salt Lake City hotels over the years, and trust me, nobody has any issues getting ****-faced after the Awards Banquet...
I dunno why anyone would want to leave during the evening drinking exercises. Should be plenty of "free entertainment" right there around the bikes.... :lol:Seriously, drinking and getting ****-faced at WFO will probably be a big non-issue if you drink at the hotel. If you go wandering off to a strip club or a night club or seal clubbing, you may have to pay for a 'club membership.'
