Anybody ever run Avon Distanzias or Pirelli MT-60's on a feej? If so, any preference if both have been tried? I'm planning to ship it to Kuala Lumpur in Oct to ride all over Asia. Want a tough tire that will survive on/off road conditions as they happen. Hope to get 5K+ out of a set, but might be dreaming in that regard.

Is there somehow I could possibly advise you against taking an FJR on this trip..? Having lived in and traveled extensively throughout Southeast and Central Asia for 12 years, the FJR (regardless of tires) isn't the first bike I think of for taking a trip like you're planning. I tend to think of something, well, lighter and smaller. A DL650 or KLR come immediately to mind...

Agreed not the first choice. But I've recently ridden 2K+ miles there, and most of the paved roads were in top form. It's some of the extended unpaved sections through Laos that are of concern. The feej is all I've got at the moment, dont feel like renting an unknown quantity over there, nor buying a Wee-Strom etc to ship over. And after riding a K1200LTC for 5 years, well......the feej is "lighter and smaller" to me

Can't help you on the tire selection...but I can relate to your comment above.

I also traded a LTC for a FJR. The FJR Feels like a minibike compared to that high center-of-gravity monster.

I thought after some time the FJR would start "feeling" big and heavy...but after 18 months it still feels small and light.

I laugh every time somebody mentions how big and heavy the FJR is.

It's all relative!
