INFORMATION IS coming through from the French that Yamaha is accelerating the development schedule of its all-new FJR1400 to try and take potential sales from the Kawasaki GTR1400.

The computer-generated image is just their idea of what the new bike might look like, but the information from inside Yamaha France is solid.

The bike is being built to be more powerful than the GTR (eek) and will have a seni-atuomatic gearbox and ABS as standard. We loved the old FJR, it was very nearly the perfect all-rounder. The new version has a lot to live up to.

Well, personally, I don't like the paint job. That bazooka muffler is OK if it contains all of the catalytic converter and the header is clean. I do like the idea of a 1400. Or is the extra displacement to just a French thing to compensate for the lower power of the French bikes? ;)

Sat on a 09 concours today. It was black. Felt about like sitting on the fjr, the seat a little more comfortable maybe. It was at a 3Jap dealer. Everything but suzuki. They don't seem to ever get fjrs there and did not know when they would be out.

With talk of the National Speed Limit being reduced back to 55mph like it was before, my FJR 1300 is plenty fast.

Resist the urge folks. Friday isn't an excuse to go dup thread .
