I know this was mentioned at the time but I just watched the Nat Geo movie "Free Solo"

I can't believe he did this right in the middle of YFO 2017. We may have ridden past as this was going on.

Watched it with my wife yesterday...amazing. Bob (intech) and I rode through there (stopped and took pictures), the day before the actual climb.

I watched that with amazement ! The ledge where he had to climb "Back to ground" and his body position was almost

at 10 degrees, he made that look so flipping' easy. That is so difficult !

My brother and I talked about this show. As a former climber (not free climbing) his opinion is that it's probably a "Hmm... interesting" show for non climbers but for him they did things that left him thinking, "Oh, Hell no!"

As a nonclimber I say “Oh Hell No!” to doing trusting my life to just a single rope and whatever it’s anchored to. Free climbing is just insane.

Alex reminds you of somebody's wimpy kid brother at first glance, but he's got to be one of the toughest, fittest, gutsiest athletes in the whole world. Hell of a guy.

Watching Free Solo and some other interviews online, this is a very interesting fellow. Methodical, meticulous, mental. Visualizes being on autopilot. Adrenaline junky NOT! "Adrenaline rush means something has gone wrong"-paraphrasing. I've celebrated a particularly good enchilada more enthusiastically than he celebrated climbing El capitan.

I've printed a screen shot. His pic is going on the wall of my man cave right along with Kenny Roberts and Super Dave Osborne.
