I'm at my in-laws today so I figured I'd use their computer for awhile since I put my Mapsource on it.

I planned a couple routes for upcoming rides and emailed them to my home email.

My ? is do I save/email as gpx or gpd? it seems the gpx but just want to be sure.

Also when I open at home will it automatically open in mapsource then I just have to transfer to Zumo?

I love when technology actually works so well.

Thanks,

Steve

I am not quite sure about the gpd format, but I have emailed myself files in gpx format in the past. As long as you have Mapsource loaded on the computer you're emailing to the gpx files will open in Mapsource.

I had Ashe email me route files in gpx format. I have a garmin Nuvi. These loaded as poi's , but thats my problem. Anyway, gpx worked.

I built a route on my computer, uploaded to Garmin and couldn't find it. So You guys are ahead of me. My old Street Pilot III maynot be able to handle it.

Weird,

I emailed myself both the gpx and gdp files and only the gdp works. Oh well at least that works.

Thanks,

Steve

It has to do with the compression of the file format. The gbd files are compressed more by MapSource, but when you download them into your Garmin, they are converted to the larger gpx file format.
