I really had to swallow hard to bring myself to post this, but I can't see how the heck to zero the trip meter(s) on my 2014. It isn't really addressed specifically in the owner's manual that I can find, or in any of the Youtube vids on related subjects. I've even Googled the problem out in the "Non-FJR Forum" world--no luck.

I'd expect the reset button to have something to do with this, but so far, nada. Can't get the display to blink or do much of anything. (And yes, I've held that button down for a VERY long time.)

Please, somebody who can explain this clearly and SIMPLY, step up and help me out. It's pretty frustrating. And an important back up to the gas gauge and range" reading. Thanks.

With the trip you want to zero in the display, briefly press the "Reset" button. The trip display will flash.

If you want to zero the flashing trip, press and hold the "Reset" button, it will zero.

If it was a second (or third) trip, a brief touch will move the selection on.

I find the buttons difficult to use with a glove on, it's easier with a bare finger.

[edit] Just in case you don't know, the "Reset" button is the lower of the two to the left of the tachometer. [/edit]

OK, the key word was "briefly." Knew it couldn't be as hard as I was making it. Doesn't EVER blink when you hold the damn button down. Thanks, MC.

Scooter, it's been freaking YEARS since I saw a decent dog pile on a Friday around here. I'd actually welcome it. Feel free to leave yourself a note on your calendar.

Mike, to expand on what mcatrophy said:

Use the "trigger" on the front of the left handlebar control to scroll through the display. Once you have the "menu" or "information" screen, use the rocker switch on top of the left handlebar to scroll through the different pages. One press of the black rubber covered "Reset" button located on the left side of the gauge cluster will cause the line to start flashing. Then you press and hold the reset button again until that line disappears.

At each fuel up I Reset

1. One or both Trip Meters

2. Average Fuel Economy

It will become second nature.

Edit: nevermind. You already have it.

It took me a few goes to understand it; not overly intuitive. I've also separated my two mileage trips onto different menu screens, it's all too easy to zero the wrong one if you have to select a second or third zero-able item in one display.

Mine hasn't been reset since I bought it 3 years ago

Very selfish of you IMHO.
No ****. Really, man, have you no consideration for the rest of us around here?

<There's two trip meters?>

What a bunch of maroons. The trip meters are self-zeroing. Every thousand miles or so they are zeroed..... just like clockwork.

Huh? Mine sure don't.

The trip meters on my Honda ST1300 used to reset to zero at some ridiculous mileage that made no sense. I never did figure out what it was. I like to set my 1st trip meter every time I fuel up. I leave the #2 trip meter to monitor my entire trip. The damned Honda would zero itself. I left the #2 trip meter alone on my '15 FJR for as long as I could just to make sure that issue never came up.

I use my #2 trip meter for my oil changes. I'm not in the world of the GenIII ... Yet! :)
