Figured I'd toss this idea out.

Who knows - maybe there's a New Years Day ride and I just don't know about it yet, but figured I'd throw a stake in the ground for the last Sunday of 2009!

Maybe this time we could ride South, towards Oregon...

If the weather cooperates, I'm in! Maybe us folks from PDX can meet you halfway up and we can head inland or towards the coast...

As long as I can get a garage pass and the weather holds, count me in. I like the idea of going south...maybe it'll be warmer down there!

Some LD-type riders are meeting on the 1st at Moe's in Florence OR for clam chowder lunch. All invited. Personally, I'll be tuning in the Rose Bowl game. But I'll watch here to see if you do a different date.

Weather for Sunday looks like 46 or so and cloudy. Sunny from now through Sat, too, so maybe Sunday will show a bit as well.

So, I'll try looking at a map to select a southerly route for folks to consider and whine about. ;) . Then I suspect a better idea will get posted. :) .

I'm thinking a start time of 10am for the ride, wrapping up mid-afternoon. Great hours for riding, we can cover some distance and folks still have some afternoon for family.

Always open to ideas on this stuff.

Let\s see if this will work - clicky to mapped route.

Roughly 4 hours, about 180 miles. Across the ferry towards Bremerton, south to Olympia, then back up to the Bellevue area.

I suspect many parts will end up on slab, though. :(

Here's another option that takes us East and South for a figure 8 loop. Roughly 180 miles and just over 4 hours.

If I ride it will be Saturday, the wife works and my odds are better, I think the weather will be better.

Sunday works better for me as well. (C'mon Pan) The route you have mapped out will be a full day... and don't forget folks returning on Sunday will pack the ferries. Might be a better idea to stay off them this weekend. It's also going to be pretty cold in the mornings, so ice is definitely a concern.

Later start and a shorter loop?

...and I'll likely ride on Sunday simply because I'm planning to run up past Everett on Saturday to look at a car to buy.
...time for a new Skyline GTR? My son WOULD be impressed.

OK, so see - my route is picked apart - all valid points, though, so I'll retry. :D

...and no Skyline - sticking with used... so will probably be a 2004/2005 BMW Z4 3.0 roadster. Drove one last night and both my wife and I loved it! Today I'm seeing 3 - 4 worth pursuing, all low miles. :D

OK, how about this route:

clicky

Redmond, Monroe, Enumclaw, Bellevue - 120 miles and under 3 hours.

We could meet at 10AM to begin, should be back well before 4 PM. So, riding in daylight (though I will point out that we are now after the Winter Solstice so our days are getting longer now. ;) ) and by 10AM the temps should be coming up for the day.

Testing another form of clicky for the same map link above. ;)

Bound to be pie in Enumclaw somewhere...

Happy - sorry to hear you won't make it, but family trumps ride IMO. :) I'm sure your day will be just as, if not more, enjoyable. :D
