07 FJR1300A, 7K with Barbarian Mod, spring and throttle sync performed at around 3K. Bike has been running well with no issues and I have not made any changes since the mods at 3K. Today (for the first time) as I was coming to a stop at a light, the engine simply died. It started write up again, idled and ran fine. As I stated above, I have never had this happen with it before. Concerned that this may be the start of something. Has anybody else experienced this.

Don't have an answer for you but I'm curious, what RPM do you have you idle set at?

Hate to admit that I don't know exact. I am going to say right around 900 from the best that I can recall when looking down.

I suspect the idle is too low. It has happened before on all iterations (NewGen and OldGen). The bikes do better with the idle speed set at 1100 RPMs.

My 06 stalled too. I read somewhere else on the forum to adjust the idle to just over 1100 where the sound of the engine changes. This has fixed my stalling issue and as a side benefit (for me anyway) has made the bike easier to handle at slow speeds.

BTW: I don't recommend reaching down and fiddling with the idle adjustment while in heavy traffic during rush hour. Just trust me.... ;)

Thanks for the tip. I will most likely speed the idle up to 1100. The weird thing is that it was fine until yesterday and then happened twice on my ride home from work.

Can you really save gas with the idle at 650??? I guess it makes sense but I can't imagine that there would be much difference. Then again, the majority of my riding is on the freeway so I am rarely at idle.

 He don't know Odot, do he?

Welcome to the Forum flphil! You will find this Forum to be full of good info, good advice and good people. Then there are others that are jokers, pot-stirrers, hooligans and just plain gonzo. Check Odots profile by clicking on his name, take a look at some of his posts and do a character verification. Yup, Odot's a character

Edited: Belatedly, let me concur that your idle speed should be between 1,000 and 1,100 per the FSM (Factory Service Manual). Bump it up and the stalling should end.

1.) You have to know Odot.

2.) Do you now walk with a limp? Resistance was futile, you've now had your leg pulled quite successfully. :yahoo:

And publicly!!! :clapping:
