I am sure this has been discussed before, but I was not able to find it through a search on this web site. So, I am asking. I just bought an 06, and the owners manual calls for 20W-40 oil, and my dealer says they don't make that anymore, and I can't even find it in auto stores. So, what do people with FJRs use?? And do you recommend syn. or non-syn? Thanks!

Oh noob. It is Friday and this has been answered adnauseam..... :dribble:

As much as there hasn't been a great Dog Pile Friday in a while, I'll refrain and just offer this help. Some say I need to try and get in touch with my inner child or somehting like that. So here goes....

Google is your friend try a search like this: Oil site:fjrforum.com

Also try Best of NEPRT.

the enviromental protection agency has passed new laws on this subject

you must now use water in the crankcase...bottle probably better unless recommended by your local city treatment board...

You will find that these guys are being very nice, being "good" Friday and all. I saw this post and I thought OH NO it's Friday.

(Don't take it personal, once you hang around here you'll see it's all in good fun)

You will also find that the search does little to nothing, so use the site:fjrforum.com oil thing and you'll find numerous posts from every angle that will help you out.

I have found that BelRay MC2 makes my FJR as fast off the line as a big-bore 2-stroke. Don't smoke like that old bean oil, neither.

I'm really sorry that I asked. I have as much of a sense of humor as the next guy. Like I said, I ran as many searches as I could and came up with nothing. I was just looking for help. That's all.

Oil opinions are like bellybuttons...

Ask your dealer what he'd put in it.

Change it often and keep an eye out for tires on sale....

I apologize

only 3 posts and throwing poop at you on Good Friday

google is your friend

google "oil site:fjrforum.com" or ????? site:fjrforum.com'

I have used exclusively in my bikes for a good 100k miles and 3 years Shell Rotella Synthetic 5w40 bought from Wal Mart in the dark blue gallon jug for right at $20. I also purchase another quart for that little extra needed (4.2 quarts).

Cheers to ya good sef

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'

A lot of meaningful posts above - - NOT! I was at the Yamaha stealer this fall and they are using 20-50W in the road bikes. I put 10-40w Amsoil motorcycle synthetic in my FJR and Shell Rotella T synthetic 5-40w in my Honda Valkyrie.

Don't be sorry. I would love to know what kind of oil SkooterG uses in his FJR with over 222222 miles on it. I'm afraid of the BBQ that might result. I guess I could try Google. I'm about due for an oil change and I've been doing alot of research on what oil to use. I'm leaning towards the Shell Rotella Syn. in the blue bottle at Wally World.

Welcome to the Forum! :drinks:

What the *** has happened to this place??

Oil threads are as old as the extinct fuking critters that are responsible for it..

Why.. If I had the power, I'd slam this thread shut so hard folks three miles from ya would have to replace their windows.............

Damn twits! do a little research here as the threads prior suggest.

:boredom:

I will be the only nice peep in this jungle of lions.

Forget what Yamaha says, you can run Shell Rotella or Delo or various synthetics. I run 15-40 Delo year round, but chage often. My 06 now has 110k plus and no issues. I live in central Kali, winter temps = 19F in mornings, summer temps = +105F.

You regular phooks take a break on this noobie or else I'll drag your noobie stoopid posts up from my private collection of 'did they really ask that' collection.... :****:

Remembering Tim (TwoWheelNut for your noobies) tonight...
