Engine sliders save the day

I have a similar story. Having never dropped a street bike in my life, I wasnt really wanting sliders on my FJR. However, after reading this forum, it seemed like a good idea since quite a few on here had stories of their bike ending up on it's side. I ordered the OES sliders and ironically, the day after I put them on, I had a stall and had to gently lay my bike down due to a steep side hill grade and the fact that I recently had back surgery. I could have strained to stop the bike from getting over too far, but I was not willing to do any damage at all to my back. In any case, the only damage that the bike sustained was two small scratches on the left side (bottom) engine cover. They are barely noticable. I am VERY glad that I put them on the bike because without the sliders, I am sure there would have been a noticeable amount of damage. I thought about the Motivation sliders, but ultimately ordered the OES brand. The Motivation sliders are a little longer and I believe that had I ordered those, there would not have been a scratch on the bike at all. Both (OES and Motivation) are good products, but after my experience, if I were doing it over, I'd get the Motivation brand. JRH08FJR

I'd be pissed that the cop didn't chase her down if he was in the traffic behind you. Leaving the scene is big bad mojo.

I just finished putting Motovation sliders on my FJR1300.

It was as easy as falling off a log.

Used blue Locktite and torqued them to 35 ft lbs.

Congrats on the sliders and here's to hoping you never need them. Glad to see a fellow FJR Forum member from the Fargo area. North Dakota forum members are few and far between.

I'm a bit puzzled over the instructions to use/not use threadlock on the slider bolts. OES says to "lightly lubricate" the bolts. Others say to use anti-seize. Still others say to use blue Locktite. I used a little copper anti-seize when I installed my OES sliders last week but will keep checking the torque until I'm sure nothing is loosening up.

When the new Gen III FJR comes out (don't hold your breath) I hope they take a lesson from Honda's ST1300 and put on some tip-over wings and pop-off mirrors. They work!

Re the original post: drivers who leave the scene of an accident, especially where injury is possible, should do jail time.

06 fjr several tipovers. (only a matter of time ) 1st item added immediately after going home was sliders. OOPs!! the aluminum type. They saved my legs and I was lucky with no engine damage. Any delirium slider is mandatory and if you are smart should be added before you drive the bike home. These bikes slide, crash, fall over and get scratched if ridden enough. Of course it's the bikes fault not the riders. Ha!!
