Remote possibility at this point, but...Is there a recommended camp ground in the area?
Yeah buddy - it's 56 miles to the Kickstand Lodge. That's too far for even me to ride drunk. However, I'd be honored to ride ***** with you.

Edit - maybe we can have the "after ride party at the KSL" - then the others would have to ride home drunk!

I was hoping as my wife gets more years in her public school teaching it would make it easier for her to take a couple of days off during the school year; however not the case yet. in July I was optimistic when I reserved a room at Maggie Valley and now the school wants a Dr slip if you take more than a day off in a row or they will dock her pay.

If EOM is ever during the summer we will be there - until then it looks like we will have to wait till we both retire to meet up with you characters. I cancelled the room for this year but we will see you guys in a couple of years.

Be safe!

^^^Sorry to hear that Marty...I look forward to riding with you again when you aren't on an FZ-1. Maybe I'll be able to keep up next time?

Really appreciate that, Wheatie. Solo on the FZ-1 was easy, there is no 'touring' built into it. Riding the FJR two-up limits the cornering just a bit, thus a bit longer times between start and finish. My avatar is from the Dragon in August '13, that is as over as it gets. You'd be zooming right on by us right there with one hand waving a 'thanks' for giving you space. :)

I'll find something closer if we go.

There are several Campgrounds near the Maggie Valley Inn.

Marty, she isn't allowed vacation? That so sucks, man. I'll see you some other time, I guess.

I won't be there, but thought I could give some input, as I'm currently at MVI&CC.

Ok, first off...upgraded rooms. Some rooms are "upgraded" to make them a bit more modern. The shower head has been raised! If you are 5'8" you're good, otherwise duck. New carpet and bedding makes the rooms look much better. Still, bring a power strip, as the outlets are few and covered. Overall, it is better.

Heads up on 215, as there is about 4 or 5 miles of loose gravel on the road between the BRP and 276. It's doable now, so should be good Sept., but a heads up anyway.

I'll be playing around here for a few days, so if you have questions on roads, I'll try to give an update.

I have not been able to attend the past several years. Each year it continues to conflict with an annual conference that I attend. This year will unfortunately be no different. As always you guys have fun and be safe and everyone return home with big grins.

I find this interesting mostly because it is on a different weekend than the past seveal....I think your conference is purposly screwing you over.
