EOM 2014 - Maggie Valley - 26-28 Sept 2014

Heads up on 276 between the BRP and Waynesville, as they have 6 miles of gravel on the road. I got up to 45mph in the straights, but 30 in the curves. 226a has all new blacktop, and is soooo smooth, but gravel laid down on the shoulders all the way prevents unbridled riding. 80 has some cracks, but no tar snakes, so it's all good. 151 is still the dream of a road as you can wish for....don't miss it! The BRP around Mt. Mitchell has some bad areas, about 3 or 4 miles before and after. Otherwise, it's all good too.

Weather: today, when I left MV, it was 50 degrees! By midday it was low 80's in the valley areas (Ashville) and low 70's in the high areas. Perfect!

Man I'm jonesing to ride that area. Anyone that gets within 100 miles of Mt. Mitchell owes it to themselves to wander over to the Roan Mt. area. The roads therein (Hwy 19, 212, etc) are absolutely amazing and you will NOT be disappointed. Check out my ride report "When it all Falls right" for some teaser. Of course a loop south to the North GA mountains wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Since indications are that winter is going to be a bit early this year, I believe this gathering should be treated to some very colorful scenery on their rides.

As for the rally, I'm not in yet. But I'm definitely not out. It will be a last minute decision - I'll live without the t-shirt.

I find this interesting mostly because it is on a different weekend than the past seveal....I think your conference is purposly screwing you over.

I have not been able to attend the past several years. Each year it continues to conflict with an annual conference that I attend. This year will unfortunately be no different. As always you guys have fun and be safe and everyone return home with big grins.

Ahhhhh............you are correct!

The EOM does not directly conflict with my conference dates this year, but we (wifee and I) will be out between the dates of 9/10-9/23, a period of 2 weeks, combining some vacation with the conference. Being away from work for that long of a stretch will unfortunately not allow me the opportunity to make the trip to Maggie Valley. It will take me a month to catch up at the office. There is always next year and if the EOM dates stay the same I may be able to make it. The conference is in Wisconsin next year......no offense to anyone who lives in Wisconsin, but I don't think we will be taking any vacation time while there, and maybe I'll be back soon enough to make the ride up.

I'm going to do a Fall bike trip - this is as sure as the sun rises in the East. When, where, and for how long just depends right now. The friggin real world Gods are somewhat in charge at this time. I must be patient just a little longer, a chore I am not very good at.

In about 5 years, they are all going to kiss where the sun rarely shines. Then I will do what I want when I want. And you will read ride reports that will make Tyler's look like a nose picking seminar.

He's got down to earth wisdom and maybe a {slight} twisted bit of humor (and, who doesn't right?). He's def not a trouble maker (like some forum intervenes may have portrayed him in the past) but he will tell it like it is.

As for myself? WYSIWYG! ...Just drink more, we'll all be good

That O Marty Face guy was out to Sparks for the Riders Roundup in July. He even stalked me to my home, jumped in the pool and ate our food! Dude needs a tan for sure.

We have also had the pleasure of Wheatie and Karl staying with us out here a few years back. The FJR crowd sure has some good people.
