Virginia has some absolutely awesome riding that the "radar detector elite" crew will never experience. For real, if a local decided to host an EOM in Virginia, I'd be right there to help out. The folks that wouldn't come because of radar detectors... I will call them wining children... will certainly be missing out.

Furthermore, most of my riding is in VA & WV... this meet should be much fun.

I'm voting on Wytheville for 2018...but looking forward to Lewisburg this year!

Unfortunately I just cancelled my hotel reservation for EOM. Now the good news....... My work just approved my request for a six week vacation to ride across the country. I'll be leaving the weekend after Labor Day and 3 quick days later I'll be at Mount Rushmore to start the fun part of the trip. I have lots of planning to do and I will be looking for suggestions, but I'll do that in a different post. I will miss you guys. Lewisburg is a great place to ride. Have fun and be safe.

Good luck on your ride. My cross country trip is in May and I'll look for your planning post.

For the Virginia chatter...provide a venue suggestion that hits the minimum requirements...roads are a given in that western end, need a new LZ that hits the wickets...

That's easy: the Howard Johnsons in Staunton.

55 to 59.00 a night for a clean room. Motocycle friendly.

Great pool. Free breakfast. Within easy walking distance

of one of America's great downtowns. Fantastic restaurants.

And in the heart of some of the East's best roads.

Try this on for size: pick up 250 right from the hotel, go

West to 28 in WV, South to Marlinton, East on 39 to

Lexington & Buena Vista, North on the BRP to

Waynesboro, then 64 back to Staunton. Awesome!

As a destination it's hard to beat.

Ahh, forgot about that. Wasn't high on my priority list.

Explains why COG has theirs at the Stonewall Jackson.

Gonna cost you though.

Stop in Greenville on the way up...doing a long second day up secondary twisty roads.
That actually doesn't sound like a bad plan at all. 700 mile cannonball run to Greenville... probably take me 11-12 hours with a few gas and pee stops. Then, what, another 325-350 up thru Pisgah and Cherokee on a more "scenic" route?

The trick is going to be getting 6 days for a bike trip... two up, two there, and two back.

I have a 400 mile route that hits rt 80 in NC, Roan Mtn, Shady Valley and a certain section of US 421, Rt 58 in VA, Rt 16...and then plod up US219 because it will be time for a rest and a beer.

...or we could add Bolt Mtn Rd in WV, just because...

Pencil me in... If I start talking about it now I might have a chance. ;-)

Werks fer me. On the border, so a lot of riding can be outside of VA... to keep the RD peeps happy.

That combination of a route would be hard to beat. Primo roads indeed.
