Must be something else going on in the same area. Tripadvisor had 4 other hotels sold out also.

Interesting me thinks,

I reckon we'll get a heads up when the block opens and we can officially reserve under the group rate? Or should I go ahead and call?

Well, The group rate is associated with the group room block, call, them them you're with the FJR Owners meeting, and that's the rate.

However, as has been mentioned in passing before, this location does not bend over backwards to offer discounted room rates, meal rates, waive any room rental fees, etc. I'll publish what they sent me, but I'm certain many will find cheaper rates via online sources should the property release any of the rooms for booking via those sources.

Basically, the manager knows he's got a full house that weekend, and there was no reason for him to cut the room cost - we pay what they set it at or go somewhere else. Changing weekends / dates did not change the rate (Unless you want to go in February...) We're filling the hotel, which means added revenue for the restaurant and bar on site that weekend, and he is still charging me to use the banquet room; on top of the cost of the meal. Just as he did in 2008, and I'll assume in 2007 (but I didn't have a hand in the '07 set up).

Hotels are ready for reservations now.
So Wayne, what is the secret code for getting the discounted rate?

Wayne, first off let me say thank you for bringing this all together, as I would think the logistics can be hair pulling. I plan on arriving Friday, so if there is anything I could do, to help ease any burden, please let me know.

Rob

Wayne,

That manager must not like you

MSTA has a Fall Colors Ride every last week end in Sept or first week end in Oct. Actually I think it might be the same week end in 2015. Rooms were $72 which isn't bad. Not sure what they are charging us because only the manager knows that rate at this time. They did give the MSTA organizer some breaks but I'm not sure what they were.

Booked my room 5 minutes ago. Manager seems to be a very nice lady. I asked what the group rate was and she said: $79.99. Not bad at all. Got a none smoking king. Can't wait. :D

Yep, us too. Wifey is friggin' excited! I'll see how excited she is 3 hrs. into the ride up. :)

Yep! Get some kind of seat pad. It'll come in handy. My pad made life a lot easier on my 18 day adventure at the last one. Still fun though. :)

There is more to it than just room rates. The site needs to be big enough to handle the crowd, willing to deal with >100 motorcycles, have a function room that can handle a banquet and let us hold a meeting. The first EOM in WV the site also set us up with another room where Jeff used AV equipment to teach GPS 101. Heck, they didn't even call the police when there were 100 drunks wandering around the parking lot at 2:00 am ;) The discounting can include the banquet, function rooms as well as the guest rooms so some of the savings aren't apparent. It is pretty common for the sites to offer the organizer a special deal, it is great for the site to have a large, almost guaranteed group planned in advance and lasting over several days.

Been there in 07, was there for two Fall Color's rides which had about 75 riders each time, and one other which I don't recall at the moment, maybe just passing through which I normally do several times each summer.. They had the additional room for MSTN for various admin functions; however, the group did not want a big, fancy ball; they came to ride.

You do get a decent super continental breakfast and I believe you can go to the restaurant for a full breakfast; however, most people went to Shoney's fwhich is in walking distance. Most people either went to the Ruby Tuesday's or downtown for dinner which has a good selection of taverns and restaurants. They do have a large banquet room which was used in 07.
