Well, a little less than 3 weeks and the bikes are ready. Put new tires and Doran TPMS on wifey's bike. Will get the saddlebags on next, hers being the soft ones, that will take much fiddling to get right. Then the process of packing. This might be the most eye-opening experience for her, as she's used to carrying 2 suitcases for an overnight!

She's starting to get apprehensive about the trip, but her excitement still overshadows it. The closer it gets, the more I think the scales will change.
Once she gets to EOM and meets some of us hooligans she'll have a whole new perspective.

And I've got to get 2 girls' stuff packed onto 1 FJR.... Oh joy. Trial size things. Rolling clothes. And no, you don't need a different pair of shoes to go with each outfit.
But that hair dryer is a vital necessity ;) Or, at least that's what my wife says.

She used to take everything she wanted to bring on the trip down to the motorcycle, then subtract out items until it would all fit. These days she takes one of the saddlebags to the bedroom and pre-packs there. This year we have had to fly several times due to family 911 issues and have discovered that carry-on bags are huge and we end up with lots of extra room when fully packed. Packing for long motorcycle trips will teach ya what's really important in life :)

Yep, Marie is the same way. We ordered a travel hair dryer for the trip, but after getting it, it's still big. So Marie said "You know what? Screw it! Most places have them, and if they don't, I'll run down to CVS, or whatever, and get a cheap one and leave it." She's starting to think smart about packing now, so maybe this will be better than I originally thought. Who knew?

There is a Wally World right next to the hotel...

A good friend would tell her passenger to prep a duffle bag of extras that I could pick up and put in my car on the way by...

First: Are you trying to make this easy or something? ;-)Second: And do you really think she will be ready a week ahead of time!?!? Huh, yeah right.....

Less is more. I have successfully encouraged my wife to pack less on our get-aways. I love it when we fly places, you can't take much on a carry-on bag.

The few FJR events I have been to are clearly not a fashion show by any means. The folks there are about being comfortable. If my wife came with me I would suggest clothes for underneath her gear, one decent outfit, one outfit for parking lot stories.

Just give her one side case bag and say "you can put all the lingerie in there u want!!" U may then get both cases to yourself!!!

Good luck.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but there is a full lunar eclipse on September 27, that will be visible starting at 9:00 PM with maximum eclipse at 10:47, and lasting beyond 11:30 PM. The simulation for Charleston is shown here: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/usa/charleston-wv

Many will leave the EOM on that date, but the full lunar eclipse is visible throughout the Eastern U.S. Fortunately, I should be out of range to witness Beemerdon's transformation under the full moon eclipse. No one warned me the EOM ends on a full moon.

Chances are that there is a partial on the days on either side of the 27th.......... It will be interesting to see during the parking lot BS sessions.
