New PR2's mounted last night. Dropped them off for balancing this morning. I'll be picking them up after work today and then heading out for a feeler ride. Then home to pack. 2 more days. Just 2 more days.
Geeeeezzzzz, and I thought I was last minute. I hope they did a good job.

Dave
I just got the tires on this afternoon. Broke in my modified HF tire changer and NoMar lever. T30 front PR4 rear, my favorite combo. Took a quick trip and ran them up to 100 and no vibration, so I'm good to go. I wasn't going to change them because had decent tread on the existing set, but I listened to @El_Toro_Joe who swore I'd die if I didn't take new rubber to EOM.

Of course that means my roommate LittleJon and I will have the newest tires and best beer and BBQ.
I thought you were going to make them work!? ...at least that's what I heard you telling Cigar Joe at the Tippy Canoe.

Prob a good thang for that change.

Rode Roan Mountain Rd (NC-261-TN143) from Bakersville, NC, thru Carver's Gap, to Roan Mountain, TN. Then we went over to Bristol Motor Speedway and I did a couple laps around the track. I can't believe we did not get caught and thrown out or arrested. Finally we rode The Snake (US-421) from Bristol to Mountain City. On the way back I found out how good NC-194 is between US-421 and NC-184 in Banner Elk.

A good day of riding in the WNC & TN mountains and I've got another day left to enjoy before heading to EOM.

Got up with FYB! Thursday we start the adventure on I-95 south of town, then

head for twisties. Taking the 23rd off to ease into things.

Staying out of DC, the Pope has things locked up.

Still on call tonight, kinda sucks. Might have to start drinking for breakfast.

Hey Joe, how do you get the Garmin out of the locked cradle? LOL

Updating the 665 maps.

Got home with the new tires, all balanced up. Put them on, tossed back a quick burger, and fired her up. Figured I'd hit the parking lot an 1/8 mile away to feel out the new rubber.

Didn't make it. 1 left turn was apparently too much. Low throttle, but too much lean laid the bike down on the left side, but moving fast enough for the center stand to dig and flip the bike over to the right side. So I dicked up both sides. Pretty sure my left mirror bracket is broken. Windshield parted ways with the bike, but is just the plastic screws that snapped.

Took her back out after. Mirror is serviceable. Pretty sure I can get the windshield back on, one way or another.

She will be a whole lot less pretty than she was this morning when get to Lewisburg, but damn it, we're still going.

And Happy Birthday, KJ.

How far did you go on them? I got 12 miles on my new tars. Should be scrubbed in by the time I get there..........

Holy crap Jon! Glad you're OK. Is it because the tires were new and not worn in yet. Wow! I'm with ya buddy. I just posted recently how I dropped mine on the left side in a parking lot. See you at EOM.

I read about yours, Jeff. I hope your cover came in. I thought about you when I looked at mine after it happened. I gotta say it was the tire. I take that corner every day. Close enough to home that Mel heard me go down from the back yard. I'll ride to work tomorrow and give them a good scrubbing. Looking forward to seeing you down there.

Hey Jon, those first few miles on the new tires are kinda dicey until the decals and glue wear off. They really feel greasy, and I was feeling it the first few miles. Being that I'm an old guy and you're still enjoying the finer things in life, I feel obligated to say.. Hey dumbshit, be careful out there!

So I'm putting on Marie's saddlebags, and can't locate the straps. Looked everywhere they could possibly be. Great. So it looks like I've got to get creative to make it work with her tailbag. This should be interesting.....not! Ugh!! 😬

I will be leaving Akron Thursday morning at around 8 am if anyone is interested in meeting up. I will be down lewisburg way around 1 pm. So I am thinking about riding over to paint bank for lunch at swinging bridge. Food is great. Any takers?
You'll be about an hour and a half behind me...but I won't be getting to Lewisburg till around 6ish.
Are you not very good with directions? It's just down 77 to 64 to 60! Lol
I looked at a map, and saw that there are roads that go from Brunswick to Sutton, and then from Rock Cave to Lewisburg...imagine that. I will be using 77, to cross the river. Why rush, when there are so many great roads, on the way down?

Would you all stop throwing yer bikes to the ground? No need to wash and wax it anymore Jon...that leaves more time to ride. Talk to me at EOM...I've got a sticker for you.
