I rolled south out of Crawley yesterday (Just west of Lewisburg) at 7am. Between there and Narrows, VA, I saw no less than 2 dozen deer along the road. Mostly standing, and avoided with a solid bit of hard braking. On the drive in Friday night (I arrived at 11:45pm, but I was in the car), there were plenty along I-64 between I-77 and the Crawley exit.
On the slab, if you can find a truck or car moving at a decent speed, tuck in behind and use them as a shield.
No shame in stopping over and arriving in one piece the next day.
just my .02...
Is the parking lot party going to still be going Thursday night about 11:30 or so????
I have the dilemma of pulling in that late or waiting until the morning to ride into Lewisburg. Problem is I cannot leave here until 3PM central time. Basically it is about 520 miles to Lewisburg. I will not worry about falling asleep as I am a late night person anyways. The thing that scares me a little is the wildlife in the last few hours to EOM.
If I lay up somewhere before it gets real dark, I will be wasting half a day riding by myself into Lewisburg. What would you all do??? I do not have aux lights but my HIDs do a good job. I have ridden plenty in the dark, but not in WV or SE Ohio. Is it bambi wonderland there?? I will be on the interstate 90% of the time.
I am tempted to push through. Just tailgate near a big rig and go as slow as I need to go. Especially if the parking lot is alive and well. You know, worth the trip!!
What would you do?? Lay up short in a cheapo hotel somewhere along the route, or champion on and get the party started on Thursday night???
Kev, You do not have to vote, I know what you would be drinking Thursday in Lewisburg!!!
