Fortunately, it isn't hard to find & ride pavement in this area.

FODS-East will be in WV, but technically, that's not an FJR meet. Though your welcome to ride the great roads in the area while we get our dirt bikes muddy.

The SE Ohio Ramble is in May, which will be in Marietta, a stones throw (really!) away from WV.

Wow....are all the rallys planning to be in West Virginia this year???
Only the best one's (except the SE OHIO Ramble), which is officially in Ohio. Hope to see you all at EOM.
Gerald you should try to also make it to FOD S in June. I'm sure Jim has put some great dual sport routes together.

Yes, SEO Ramble is just to the north and west of the state. And Lewisburg is in the SE corner (more in the mountains). These are far enough apart both in distance and time (Spring and Fall) that nobody should be put off about attending both, if they have the good fortune and good finances to be able to.

Having ridden in both locales, and them being on opposite sides of the state (> 200 miles of twisty roads apart) I think they even manage to have a different "feel" to their locales, with SEO being more rugged-country farmland and EOM being more Allegheny Mountain hillbilly roads.

I have no idea what this FODS east thing is all about, but it doesn't sound like it's an FJR centric meetup. There are at least a half dozen Hardley rallys in WV next year too. Those old boys may ride slow, but they know a good place to ride. I wouldn't let any of that dissuade anyone from attending EOM or SEO.

Was at the EOM in 07? in Lewisburg. (IIRC that is where that extreme jar head made his world famous FJR pic) Been to two Fall Colors rides the last two years in Lewisburg with MSTA. Been to two Mail Pouch Fly By's in Marietta and several Triumph events in the Canaan Valley. Have been riding WV since the late 1960's from Wheeling to wherever. So I'm a bit biased on WV.

I run from Lewisburg to Black Water Falls or Senaca Rocks or Holly River or Smoke Hole or just about anywhere in WV in a single day with no problems. IMO, if you run the weekends you don't see coal trucks. If you do run coal country, you aren't riding the best roads in WV. I currently live in the land of Snakes and Dragons, great roads; but WV will always be my favorite. Marlinton might be a better jump off point for rides, but it just doesn't have the facilities for an event the size of an EOM.

P.S. - extreme, please pardon the jar head remark, been there, done that - Semper Fi

Yeah, probably so. I just hope that the state can hold up to all the hype!
Let's see: US219 from LB to US250; US250 to Churchville, Va, US33 from E. of Elkins to Harrisonburg, 39 from Goshen to Richwood, 20 from Richwood to the Ohio River, 16 from VA to the Ohio River, 66, 28,92, 15, US50 from Grafton to Md, 42, 32, 26, 150, 10, I'm gettin' tired. Those are some of the roads that are available. There are lots more secondary ones too. Some will be hard to hit from Lewisburg unless you leave at sunrise and get back after sunset. I don't advise riding too much after dark. Bambi loves WV too.

WV doesn't care about hype. It doesn't need hype. It is just awesome riding.
It may not need it but it's not stopping them from going for it either.

At last weekend's NYC IMS some (state maybe?) agency had quite the display promoting riding in the state. I grabbed a few of the many brochures and maps they were passing out, some marked with VisitWV.com/motorcycle. Hope to make use of some of them next year.

I've received tourist spam from WV ever since I sent away for the state tourism map. It is one of the few email spams that I don't unsubscribe from. I love me some West Virginni roads.

Take me home... country roads...
