I'm thinking this naming thing could be an official contest at the dinner/social.

He could stand in front, and we could bless him with all sorts a names.

For some reason, I am thinking that "butter" is going to be his new forum name.......what do you think butter???

Well, you live in Jersey... How about "Jersey Devil"? Or we could just call you "Hard rolls,Tomatoes & Bagels". or how about "Pizza"! Personally, I'd certainly remember someone named Pizza for sure! There is always "Pork Roll" or "Taylor Ham", too.

Personally, rather than pizza or butter, I'd go for Bacon.

Maybe Fried Bacon Wrapped In Bacon.

Now THAT'S a forum name.

That so isn't Jersey tho, Andy. Now the name "Bacon Stuffed Beefsteak Tomatoes"? That might work & be Jersey-esque.

I just knew if I brought this name problem to the attention of the forum members that you would have lots of good suggestions. Special thanks to luvtoride! Just a few points about the suggestions.

  • Jersey Tomato is another name for a Jersey Girl . . . and they don't pump gas.
  • Beefsteak Tomato, unfortunately I'm too wimpy to carry that name.
  • Bagels are actually a NYC item that has now spread across the country.
  • Pork Roll is a South Jersey term. Taylor Ham is the term used here in North Jersey. We don't need no government bureaucrat telling us we can't call it Ham like they did in 1906.
  • Butter makes no sense, since it is a dairy product and Wisconsin is the dairy state. New Jersey is the Garden State. The truck farms of North Jersey are all gone now, replaced by suburban housing development.
  • Pizza, while being one of my favorite foods, is an Italian-American thing and although Jersey has the largest concentration of Italian-Americans in the country it just doesn't work for me.

  • Jersey Devil lives in the Pine Barrens of South Jersey. You have to respect the Raritan River demarcation line in the same way as the Mason-Dixon Line.

  • Pulaski Skyway, built in 1932 over Newark Bay and commonly referred to in North Jersey just as the Skyway, was also called the "Skyway to Heaven" when the Pope was Polish.
The bridge is named after Polish General Casimir Pulaski, the American Revolutionary War hero. That the 3.5-mile bridge is named after the Father of the American Cavalry is fitting. You do not so much drive the Skyway as charge across it, 45 mile-an-hour speed limit be damned! No one does 45 miles an hour on the Skyway, unless the traffic is stopped dead.

  • I live North of the terminus for the NJ Turnpike so Exit-18 doesn't make that much sense.
  • Jersey Boys aka the Four Seasons was one of the greatest singing groups in modern American music. Unfortunately I can't sing a lick.
After all these great suggestions I think I've narrowed down the choices for forum name to two three possibilities.

  • Skyway
  • JoiseyBoy
  • BaDaBing, the fictional name given to the real Satin Dolls Bar for HBO's "The Sopranos".
What do you all think?

Of course, if I ever manage to relocate to Virginia I'll probably have to change it to DamnYankee.

I'm sure there are also a few other submissions waiting in the wings....so lets just table that until you get in front of the hostile mob at EOM!

The first name, you chose.

The second name, we choose.

Take my word on this one... you don't want to be Skyway. I vote Bada Bing.

If you haven't already guessed... I'm from the arm pit of the USA known as Jersey.

Re: pizza... Much much better than other places in the USA... as a matter of fact, most places. This goes for all bread products up there... they tell me that it's in the water.

I remember Wawa before Wawa was cool. lol!

Anyway, looking forward to meeting you.
