I already looked at it on Google Maps...last time Mikey and I were in Burkes Garden, he was going to exit out on 623...but once it turned to dirt, he turned around...I was like WTF let's try it

Oops my bad, you mean out to the south and east. See here and judge for yourself. Several FJRs have run it. If they have laid down fresh gravel I'd skip it.

Running from VA42 into Burkes Garden...

I did that south entrance to Burkes Garden the year there was a tree down across the road. Only one kinda hairy uphill hairpin left hander. But then again, I've taking my FJR down goat trails not fit for a Gas-Gas...

Uphill if coming into Burkes Garden from the south. That turn is hairy going either direction. Whoohoo buddy! with the ABS if going downhill.

I'd skip the south side from either direction if they have just put fresh gravel down.

But if you are really feeling an adventure FJR route.

Come in on VA623 from Sharon Springs, run the Burkes Loop, exit on the pavement to VA 61. Continue 61 to Tazewell. VA16 to Thompson Valley and take VA91 over the mountain for more gravel to Rich Valley and sally forth from there. Maybe loop back up to Skulls Gap and over Whitetop.

Wayne I think we just built the core of the Wytheville FJR Adventure Loop ala the Cranberry route we had out of Lewisburg last year!

Sounds like a good excuse for a late summer camp-n-scout. Time for some map staring!!

Damnit Joe now see what you've done.

I've never ridden the Boone/Little Switzerland area.

Your right, we all us Canadians need to move closer.
