Jeff and I had discussed putting an FAQ on the EOM website with the idea that we could put relevant information there instead of a 100 page long thread for people to read through. Also recognizing that some people won't ask a question on the forum because they are afraid they will get dog piled and that somehow has an impact in real life?

Anyway, The purpose of this thread is for us (organizers) to come up with questions and answers for the FAQ.

Let me hear them?

A Couple that I have thought of so far:

I have a friend that I would like to bring but he doesn't ride an FJR?

Are there restaurants in the area of the hotel?

Will Fencer be a ******* at EOM or is that just on the forum? J/K

Good idea. How about:

If I need to cancel, am I able to get a refund?

What time will the "check-in" time be?

or

Will there be someone there for me to "check-in" with upon my arrival?

Will there be someone there for me to "check-in" with upon my arrival?
The answer to that is: if check-in is near the beer cooler, yes.

But seriously, that sounds like a good idea.

Maybe add: If I dump my bike will Jim Meadows take care of me & stuff a binkie in my mouth?

Q. I have a friend that I would like to bring but he/she doesn't ride an FJR?

All bikes and brands are welcomed. We do insist that anyone with loud pipes be considerate of other hotel guests and take the back during organized group rides.

Q. Are there restaurants in the area of the hotel?

The hotel has its own restaurant with good food. Ruby Tuesday's is located directly across the parking lot from the hotel. There is an Applebee's, McDonalds, Bob Evans and more within reasonable walking distance.

Q. Will Fencer be a ******* at EOM or is that just on the forum?

It's genetic. Can we PLEASE leave this in the FAQs!

Q. If I need to cancel, am I able to get a refund?

Cancellations will be accepted until two(2) weeks prior to the event start (insert date here). Absolutely no refunds after that date. You must email your cancellation to (insert email addy here) and you should receive a cancellation confirmation.

Q. What time will the "check-in" time be?

I called the Brier to confirm. Check-In is 3:00 p.m. (EDT), Check-Out is 11:00 a.m. (EDT)

Q. Will there be someone there for me to "check-in" with upon my arrival?

Nope, find your own damn room. We'll be drinking.

:)

Q. Will printed maps be available for the various routes?

No, you can download routes in both printable and various GPS formats from this website. If you require printed maps then please print your own.

Q. Will there be a water hose or wash station available at the hotel?

Yes, the Brier Inn normally sets up a shelter with a hose, wash buckets, rags etc. However, you may have to fight off HaulinAshe for space in the wash area.

Q. When do the group rides begin?

Group rides are informally organized. Everyone should "ride their own ride", at their own pace and at their own risk. Group ride leaders are volunteers and most have a kickstands-up of 8:00 - 8:30. This year we are asking group ride leaders to wear an orange safety vest as their ride starts, to help everyone identify them.

Q. Are there any planned/group meals and when are they?

Shyeah... I'll be doing that. :fie: Actually, the less bikes in my group, the better. All the fairly newbs want to be with me because they assume since I'm a woman, I'm slow. It's lovely when I turn around & see that my group that started with 4 bikes now has 12.

Q. Will Fencer be a Jackass at EOM or is that just on the forum? It's genetic. Can we PLEASE leave this in the FAQs!

Q
Will Fencer have a bike that is put back together by EOM is a better question :glare:

Q Will Heidi be washing bikes in a bikini for Charity?

A. There will be an area to clean your bikes, Heidi's clothing state will be directly proportional to alcohol intake

With reference to the group rides, Can we put a comfort level (slow, fast, moderate, leaf peeper) or skill level in with the registration to help guide folks to the right area. Remember our first ride when I didn't want to get wet  and we swapped folks around cause we had some lead weight in the group?

Ok funnyman... I am making the safe assumption that, folks would give me more money for charity to wash their bike w/ all my clothes on. I'm not putting myself down. I am being realistic.

Also, addressing folk's comfort level... I think that it's a great idea to stress that folks should ride their own ride. I do not like the idea of asking them to rate themselves in the registration. In every crowd, there's at least one w/ a hugely fat head & thinks that he rides like Ricky Racer... when in actuality, he should be in a group w/ Whistler's mom.

Due to past year's experience, I am guessing that I won't be looking for folks to follow me.

There will be lots of folks that want to do their own thing, too. I'm thinking that we should just let it play out as it may... not wanting to see this group meet get too constructive.

Yeh, what Heidi said. Last year the only way I could keep up with her was if she was hung over from the night before! :glare:
