I normally use iLife to make movies. What does Final Cut Express let you do that iLife won't? Is it worth the $200 to buy Final Cut Express?
Final Cut Express is almost the pro version. From what I understand there are just a couple things missing that would make it Final Cut Pro.
Benefits are many: Export in almost any file format
You can use as many different Audio and Video Tracks that you wish. In one of my ride videos I think I had 9 video tracks and 6 audio tracks
running at the same time.
Tons of video transitions, and filters.
Resize, shape position any part of the video in a frame.
Chroma Key or Green Screen capable - I used this in my Ride Michigan - Journey to the Land of Cheese video.
For $ 200.00 it packs a punch. And it is somewhat similar to Imovie, so the learning curve is not huge. But it does take time
to learn it. I am still learning, though I am single and have lots of time when I am not working.
Oh, and it ships with Livetype an awesome titling program with amazing capabilities, I haven't even scratched the surface of what's possible. If you do purchase Final Cut Express 4, go to youtube and do a search for it. There are lots of tutorials that will help you learn the program.
Great job! Gotta love a Mac. How much hard drive space did it take up to be able to do that? I have an Imac, but seems that video editing takes up a lot of room. Do you have an added hard drive for editing?
The mac was made for this. My Imac is 4 years old, and I have 1.9 GHZ Processor, and 1.5 Gig of SDRam. It works for me, though it can get slow when I fill up the thing. Usually I have to move my raw video to a jump drive when I am finished.
Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't expecting this! I was just bored last night and thinking of something to do. I had the idea for the intro for awhile now, but was waiting for the right project to use it with. Plus I am looking forward to the meet in Lewisburg!
Thanks again! Any other questions please feel free to ask!
