I wave at all riders, Harley, BMW's, sport bikes and SCOOTERS! Blows their minds. I don't care. I'm friendly and I don't give a shit. I remember back in the early seventies when we used the give the "fist up" power salute...what was that all about? Anyway, keep waving, life's too short to be acting like "Buster Bad Ass"! :clapping:

None taken at all, honey... with a name like Tyler, it's not out of the ordinary for that assumption to be made... Dad thought I was gonna be a boy but when the plumbing differed, he still stuck with the name cause he liked it. I get lots of Viagra ads too!!

My most memorable wave, in 1979, I was northbound Hwy 101 in Ukiah Calif, headed from the Geysers to home in Eureka on my new XS 750 triple, doing about 58 mph, speed limit then was 55 mph, I'm a chickenshit about getting a speeding ticket. I was passed by two patched pirates on chopped Harleys doing about 70 mph, As they passed, they both flipped me the dirty bird. Knowing their combined IQ was about that of a turnip, and being of superior intelligence, I ignored the gesture. About 15 miles later, on a hill just north of Willits, I passed them back, they were broke down along side the road, already had the seat off one of the bike and shit strewn about. I beeped with my chintzy japcrap horn and returned the bird, Giggling all the way home to Eureka, not worried about them catching up, as the freeway had ended and the twisties were for the next 118 miles. It still makes me smile.

Waving is stupid.

Keep both hands properly positioned on the bars at ALL times...

Is that rude?

Watch fer shit that can kill ya.

Prepare to make evasive maneuvers...
You must ride a Harley.
Nope.

Just another FJR riding rude redneck asshole.....

Gotta keep up the rep....

:)
Fixed it for you Russ, you are welcome!
Thanks!

I reckon I need a Harley?

Can I still wear my helmet?

I used to have power boat when I lived in the N.W. The sailboaters were the same way. They would go by with their noses in the air. All of us were out enjoying the water. But had different ideas about how to do it. Everybody thinks their shit don't stink.

Exactly. It's an interesting anthropology lesson. All of us tend to compartmentalize everything. Race, Religion, Rides, Neighborhoods, Schools, Nations, Companies....whatever. You name a group and you can usually spot the enemy at a very short distance. I'm not saying I'm different, because I'm not...but it is definitely interesting.

I don't think I'm in a special group because I ride, I don't really care what other folks ride, and I don't consider other riders "brothers" just because they ride. I seldom wave mostly due to indifference. I grew up country, waving at everyone on the road. Nowadays it's just too much trouble. It doesn't matter if I'm riding my HD or the Yamaha. I'll stop and check on any rider that looks to be having trouble or converse politely with any rider I meet on the road, but don't expect me to wave.

Hm, for me it's based on experience. When I started out I was "ALL BIKEZ R COOL!" and I didn't care about one over the other, but then the Harley guys always consistently went out of their way to be dicks. There are probably nice guys riding HDs, but I sure haven't met many. Heck, I even gave a Buell Ulysses serious consideration before buying the FJR, but I give Hardley riders a wide berth, and I wouldn't stop to help one.
