I have 30" inseam, have an RDL seat and I'm on the balls of my feet. The front of the seat is narrow enough so when I stop I move forward just a little. Some people that have sat on it thought it was a pain having the move forward but for me I don't even think about, it just happens. I think the wings help with the forward movement when I put my legs down. The builders at RDL will do the foam with your inseam in mind. Also, as the seat has broken in I am sitting just a little lower and now my feet have a little more contact with the ground compared to when it was new.

I own the '13 (and lust after the '14) because the bike DOESN'T look fast sitting still! I'm sure that bright red would get me stopped faster than loud pipes.

Speaking of pipes, the gen3 seems to have a little more growl in the exhaust pipes than the gen1 and gen2. I own a gen1 for comparison (quiet but fine), ride w/ gen2's (quiet w/ an extra converter), and now my gen3 seems (a little) louder @ all rpms.

No need for me to buy pipes.

I like Bill Mayer (BMS) saddles. I asked for a little shorter (to the bars) and a little lower and got it just right. Wider in the hip supports your ass weight, slimmer up front for touching down. YMMV

Thanks for the tips fellas! I'm heading to VA in an hour to check this thing out. Now that I've looked at more pics...that liquid graphite does look pretty cool..maybe I'm just giddy. We'll see how the seat and ergo's perform on my 2hr drive home. I initially had to deal with loading and unloading this monster, but convinced my better half to take a half day as well. WHY NOT?? It's 70 and sunny here, no better day to buy a new bike!! Now I get to ride it home!

I really hate to start modding this thing before clocking miles, that's not really my style. BUT...depending on the exhaust note I may just splurge. Top of my list is to make sure the seat and bars are right for longer trips, then probably put on the GIVI case and exhaust.

Kneedragger,

In response to your question. I rode my bike 1,000 miles before I did any modifications, other than adjusting the handlebars back when I first picked it up. After that I opted for the MV bar risers, which gave me the lift I desired and moved them back a little further. It was really a huge difference for me and is so far the best farkle I have installed.

I ran it on one long 1200 miler before I decided to install a custom seat. I mean the factory was not horrible, but I found that after several hours, even with regular breaks, my comfort level got less and less to the point that after 30 minutes I was ready for break, but this was around 8 hours into the day... Since I felt $600 bones was just outrageous for an aftermarket seat, and while I was looking at probably a Laam, the group buy for Seat Concepts came up. For $130 I couldn't go wrong and if I don't like it I am betting I could sell it for the same pretty quick. But so far so good, I am pretty happy.

Good luck!

I pulled the trigger!!! After 150 miles non-stop home on the freeway, basically worst case scenario (I wanted to take a few back roads but decided against it due to limited light), my back, neck, and arse couldn't be more thankful!! This bike is awesome, and I ended up getting it for $8500 with service manual, additional touring windshield, and some oil. I couldn't be more happy, this bike drives like a dream. Although the first turn I threw it in at around 100mph I ran a tad wide (it doesn't corner as quick as my Daytona), I kept it in the lines and she came on around!! The headlights are amazing, WOW!!! Seat isn't as wide as I remember, and although I'm a ballerina at stop lights, its fine for now. I'll probably look to upgrade in a while. I like the bar height and sweep so far, although I think a tad further back will be beneficial. I'm looking to clock some miles before I decide on anything besides a GIVI case and potential exhaust. Thanks for feedback guys!!! I'm an official member!!

Pics soon to come, I don't have a photobucket account, and couldn't get a google photo link to work.

Now that you're one of the cool kids, we can invite you on this.

Just be forewarned: if rbentnail's probation officer decides to make a stink, the ride will be cancelled with little notice. It is traveling over the state line, after all.

Sweet!! I won't be telling my PO, so no worries. He likely wouldn't mind anyway.

Ooohh - she's a looker! The rims don't look chipped up. Not a chance that's the original tires, but at least the front one looks like an OEM? Wait until you put a set of Michelin PR's on that puppy. Grippie little *******s, to be sure.

Ride on, bro!!!

Congratulations, you now own the fastest and more importantly the stealthiest FJR. That subtle gray has saved me a lot of money, the Poolice seldom even look up from the donut box when I cruise by. Almost invisible! Now, ride the piss out of it, head west in June for our Red Lodge Rendezvous, a gathering of sixty some, at last count, of the finest FJR riders in the world. Enjoy the Northern Rockies, Beartooth Pass, the Chief Joseph Highway, the Bighorns and Bighorn Canyon.....there are some room shares still available.

Yea they're PR4's front and rear!! Didn't realize those were 2CT's either, and yes they do feel pretty soft, so I'm hoping they're just as sticky. I used to be a hardcore Michelin guy, but once I realized how thick the carcass was on my beloved Pilot Powers, I switched. The Daytona has had a few sets of Q3's and I couldn't be more impressed. Thick carcass, and the stickiest road tire available IMO. I've definitely pushed them to the limit, and have never had a slip. The PP's would slip on you if pushed too far. These PR's have a bit of a flat spot, but still plenty on the edges. Wish I could do something about that around here...my usual week at Deals Gap with my local friends evens out the flat riding here.

Nice find Kneedragger. As far as feel, the PR4s will feel as good or better than any tire out there. They will also stick. Issue with them is longevity and funny wear sometimes. Be sure to run good air pressure. Many run about 43psi rear and 41psi front. Transforms the bike.

Good plan to ride it for a while. My first ride was 600 miles to get home. I was sore. I quickly adjusted to it and have never needed to move the bars. YMMV! Lol

Congrats on the new [to you] '13 'dragger. Looks like a nice clean stock bike that you can make your own!

Enjoy!
