If the front tire is at 20 PSI or even less, it will handle like a garbage truck!
yeah.... pretty much.If the front tire is at 20 PSI or even less, it will handle like a garbage truck!
ya that seems to be the consensus. The guy that I bought it from had planned on selling it to a dealership so he hadnt been looking after it 100% so it needs some cleaning.....but once Im done polsihing it, it will look like a million bucksWish I had a Speed Triple to play with! Get those tires aired up to 40 front and 42 rear, get the suspension set up for you, and as long as those tires aren't trashed, you will be amazed at the difference!
thanks for the advice and I totally agree. I usually try to give them at least "the foot" test before i roll out. Im usually on the bike multiple times a day so its easier for me to detect if the pressure has changedI feel (of course I am just a dumb *** that has been riding
for over 54 years) that the most important thing you can do on a street bike is check the tire pressure before EVERY ride. I usually find it 1 or 2 psi
off & don't worry BUT if you don't check you don't know. Got a piece of steel wire from a steel belted radial in my front and it would go down overnight,
Wish I had a Speed Triple to play with!
you know whats really funny about that, is I bought the big book of his poetry and sat down one rainy day with it and readied myself to be blown away. I read for awhile and finally put the book down and was like "what the **** is all this?!" Im not sure what I was expecting but not.... what it is.A T.S. Eliot fan! I have a love/hate relationship with his stuff. I cheerfully acknowledge that it is mostly brilliant, but it seems also at times pretentious.
Anyhoo, to make it easier to check the tire pressure before EVERY ride, next tire change have a set of angled valve stems installed.
Make sure the wrench installs 'em pointing to the starboard side.
imo, these should be stock equipment.
Exactly. Mostly brilliant, at times pretentious -- it makes you say, 'wtf?' a lot = brilliant, but you can only read it for a while = pretentiousyou know whats really funny about that, is I bought the big book of his poetry and sat down one rainy day with it and readied myself to be blown away. However my sig quote continues to move me on a daily basis..... so who the hell knows.

I hope so! That was the idea, after all. My wife is finally going to see it tonight and im hoping that she likes the pillion because we could take some serious trips on this thing..... I just need to mount up our E52Congrats on finding a nice ride. You will -as most here have-enjoy it a long time.
Should I bring the FJR or my 525?? Or the 525 on a trailer behind the FJR.....I see your in Santa Barbabaria. Get the ride sorted then come north and ride in the Creston hood with me!
Oh yes I totally agree - let's not make this a darkside thread. She's looking beautiful. Have fun breakin' her in. You spoke about "turn in." For what it's worth, she carries quite a bit of weight, for example, you've got a 10 pound battery up high in the fairing... so some of that heavy feeling is going to be simply normal for the bike. But I did notice a significant change in my FJR's tendancy for wanting to "turn in" (once I initiated a slow speed turn)... the day I mounted my car tire on the back. It has the opposite effect on handling. I'm not suggesting that you do the same here because you didn't ask and this isn't the darkside thread. But just so you know...

I assume you meant that when you checked the tires they were at 30 an 20, and that you aired them up to ? and ? If the tires were that low I don't doubt that she handled like a pig! I run 40 on the front and 42 in the rear.Oh yes I totally agree - let's not make this a darkside thread. She's looking beautiful. Have fun breakin' her in. You spoke about "turn in." However, once I actually checked the tires (front 30 rear TWENTY) the bike seems to handle a bit better...... heh imagine that.
Ive never had a bike this low before. Parking lot maneuvers are a snap now! but yeah after riding a Speed Triple exclusively now for a few months, the sheer momentum of this thing is hard to get a handle on because my S3 has better brakes than the FJR and it weighs less so it's kind of an adaptation process of sorts.
All in all so far not bad! Ive got ~120 miles on it now and I think Im going to have to toss the seat - its wayyyy too soft. I think I need something more firm.
But loving the power, loving the handling at least on the freeway. Canyons to come.
and dont worry, ill post up a bike report when im comfortible on it
yeah I was pretty careful the one time I rode it because I knew the tires were not where they were supposed to be.I assume you meant that when you checked the tires they were at 30 an 20, and that you aired them up to ? and ?
