Hi all,

I've had my new 2008 FJR for 3 weeks now and have been enjoying every second of it :yahoo: . I'm about to send her in for her first service. I've been looking around this site for information on "typical first service issues" for my bike but have not found any. Hence I was wondering if anyone would like to share their experience. Is there any particular area I need to pay particular attention to when I get back the bike?

I've not noticed any particular issues except that the coolant is slightly below the "Low" mark. It was above the low mark when I got it. I'd asked the dealer about it the other day and they said it is normal for a new bike - and that they will top it up when I send it in for service. Aside from this, I not sure if there is anything else I should be concerned with.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

The FAQ's and Bin O' Facts are a big help. In the manual it lists all that they check. The first service is not much except , oil and a check up as to tightness of some nuts and bolts, free movement of some parts and such. It is a good time to ask them how to do a check of the bike if you wish. I keep all fluids at least at mid level. You can ask them to adjust the bars as they semi adjustable, for comfort. Assuming it is an A , let them adjust the clutch pull for you if needed, as you should have some idea on how it feels. Watch the front tire PSI they wear fast, and are I didn't like the 021's I had. If you have not make sure your bags are tight and locklite was used. I would suggest riding it and getting use to it more , and the 4k mark is good to adjust the suspension as well.

3 weeks? What took you so long? Get out and ride that thing...

Unlesss you've noticed something that needs attention it will be an early oil change (oil and I think final drive) to flush the manufacturing chippies out.

Thanks for the feedback. I have looked at the FAQs and bin'o facts and they are helpful.

Yep - 3 weeks. I only get to ride it on weekends and occasionally take it to work. Plus, I'm kinda nervous taking it out over long distances before its first service. But after the service, I'll be doing a 500 mile ride - but over 3 days. Looking forward to that!

the 600 mile server is an Oil change, a rear oil change and a check of the fasteners etc.

The manual lists that you are supposed to perform a Throttle Body sync at this time, but the dealer said it wasn't necessary and was just a waste of money at 600 miles. (I perform my own TBS's so I just said ok)

If you wanted to save the dough, you can do it yourself..just document ti...
