I am thinking of putting a deposit on a 07 PDP when it starts sometime next month ... I wonder what color(s) will be available and what's new w/ 07A  (I have given up trying to trade-in my V-MAX for a FJR 06A - dealers are offering essentially wholesale for V-MAX. Bad time to sell at end of season! I will have to sell it direct some how on ebay, craigslist ... )

Which dealer is known to sell most off of MSRP. (We don't yet know the MSRP for 07A) I mean the lowest OTD. Some have mentioned Cullman, AL shop for best deal. Since the dealer is not putting out any upfront money for a PDP, I am assuming a OTD price can be pre-negotiated.

If the bike is ordered through a dealer outside of NJ (for example, for lowest OTD price), can the bike be arranged to be delivered directly to NJ in the crate? Some dealer-to-dealer arrangement would have to be made. I will of course check for prices from a NJ dealer first.

Please share your experience.

As far as dealers go, there are several mentioned here that are offering good deals on the FJRs. It's your decision how far you're willing to drive to pick up the bike....

I can relate my experience with Yamaha and shipping an ordered crated bike. After ordering my '06 at a midwestern dealer, I moved to the west. I had my ordering dealer contact Yamaha very early in February, before the bikes even hit the shores. The response from Yamaha was the bike will be delivered to the ordering dealer, period. I even had a very good dealer out here try from this end, and the response was the same.

The long and short of it...I had the bike assembled by the ordering dealer and then I arranged shipping to my new address. I considered having the crated bike shipped out west and assembled (my arrangements) BUT, once I accepted delivery any crate damage would be difficult to prove when it happened. Thus, I chose the fully assembled shipping method...In the end it worked out fine.

Good luck with your search, you won't be disappointed.

I thought as much, but didn't want to assume anything. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I got time to get the best deal!

my 2 cents: A receiving dealer has no incentive to uncrate and assemble from the original dealer unless he gets to make some profit in the transaction (and gain a future service customer). The original dealer can't give as (much) discount if he has to pay the receiving dealer for final prep and delivery. It kinda makes sense the way Yamaha responded - if to keep peace w/ dealers.

It is important to note that the bike must be delivered assembled and PDI done by an authorised dealer in order for the warranty to be valid.

Tip one - this is a sport-touring bike.

Tip two - take advantage of the TOURING part of the design and ride it back from Cullman, AL (D&H Cycles). You'll be glad you did.

Very true! :clapping: AL to NJ is over 941 miles - so the bike will be broken-in when I reach! 15+ hours ride.

That's what I did. D&H's price is a no-nonsense price. No negotiating or haggling. And they are awesome people to do business with. I flew over for $130, and rode 725 miles home. What little it did cost me I considered to be the cheapest mini-vacation I've ever had. Even with the cost of getting there, I saved well over a thousand dollars and saved myself a lot of hassles.

I've even developed a relationship with a dealer near where I live who didn't care where I bought it. They have given me great service and are trying to earn my business for my next new bike purchase.

You might want to give your local dealer a chance and be reasonable. I purchased my 2006 FJR1300AE for $13,200 + TTL = $14,100 OTD. I negotiated the price with my local dealer BEFORE the board's favorite Yamaha dealers posted their pricing and it turned out I didn't lose any $$$ by not going to Alabama when you factor in ALL costs (in fact, I probably came out ahead because I believe D&H sold the AE for $12999 and the travel costs to Alabama other than a bus ticket would have eaten the $200 savings)!

If you can't find a good local dealer, then there is D&H!

Best Regards,

Shane

My understanding is that the '07's will be Foliage Green for the A model and the AE's will be Lilac. Yamaha wants to appeal to a younger, more hip customer. All bikes will have a slightly revised engine of 1500cc to compete with kawasaki's GTR1400.

+1 to that. I rode mine home 500 miles from up North to get the deal I wanted...

Larson cycle in Cambridge, MN sold me an 06 FJR that I PDP'd for $12,100 plus TTL. I didn't have to haggle, Larsons is a low price dealer. They would given that same price to anyone walking in off the street. THey are located about 30 miles north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Would be a nice ride home to NJ!

How did you hear about this? Can't imagine exactly what Foliage Green might look like - it could be any of the green hues ... I hope it's not some ugly green! 1500cc - now we are talkin :D

Tell us, tell us ;)

fyi: link to a thread that has a pic of GTR1400 proto here - certainly looks like a FJR! But is it better? Things are getting interesting!

And ladies and gentelmen .. we're off and running. Dan23 get the award as the first 07 "waiter baiter " !! :clapping: It only get worse from here on out ! :D

AND I HEARD THEY ARE DETUNING THE 07'S! B)

Ithink the 06's are detuned.

My 04 seems to accelerate a bit faster.

Might be the result of the taller gearing to reduce rpm's a little to knock down the vibes.

There are still deals out there on 06's

I didn't save much on my 06. But I didn't go far to get it either. I didn't trade anything in but I was surprised at what they would give me for the ZX, still I think I can do better and truth be told I don't want to part with it.

The dealer that sold you the VMax should work with you, they should be able to get an FJR from another dealer if they are any good and want your business and any future business IMHO.

My bike actually came from another dealer than the one I bought it from. Because the one they had was actually sold out from under me, or rather I was an hour too late.

It just seems to me like you're working awful hard to save a few hundred bucks :/ The sooner you get it the sooner you're riding and the better off you'll be. (how's that for peer pressure?)

Yes, my dealer should work w/ me, but they have chosen not to - that's bad business for them. They offered me $6200 for my 06 V-MAX 120miles as trade in! I bought it from them for 10300 OTD! I wouldn't consider buying anything from them just for this reason. Now, for some reason the resale value of a vmax even a 06 model has dipped quite below MSRP, but it's still around 9,000. (I didn't do the research.) So in a way I am trying to recoup my losses by looking for a good deal on a FJR. Anyway, I am going to sell the vmax ASAP. Look for a good 06 deal or wait for 07 PDP.

We're all ears Dan23 :clapping: ... What's your source for this exciting stuff .. I'm holding myself off an '06 1300A, and would be defintely worth the wait if we see an '07 w/ more muscles (1500cc) ! :p
