So I pick up my new 09 Saturday morning and I have lots and lots of questions...

From reading this forum, I'm noticing some people saying that the bike is buzzy, my question (this time :) ) is how buzzy is it. I just came off of a 10 year stint owning a Concours and the only thing I didn't like about it was that it was BUZZY, anything over 4k rpm and it almost felt like I was holing a live electrical wire. it would put my hands to sleep on long rides. There were things I could do to minimize the buzz (Sync the carbs often, valve adjusts often, adjust counterbalancer, lead shot in the bars etc) but I'm hoping that with an 09 model that is based on 21st century technology that I won't have this issue...(The concours for all it's awesomeness is still mid 1980's tech)

I eventually got used to it, but it really was annoying... so How buzzy is the Feejer :)

Thanks

They all buzzzz to some extent and each bike will be different. Mine tends to smooth right out after 85 MPH. 90 mph seems to be the sweet spot for me.

It's more buzzy than a bee on percoset, but less buzzy than a stagnant pond full of West Nile infected mosquitoes.

The point is it's highly subjective, not an issue with most, usually less an issue on Gen 2, and fixable to the remainder.....except a few of the glass-half-empty crowd.

I would suggest going to those threads it's been discussed before and bring up questions there as it's been talked about so many, Many times.

It weirds me out when you are so nice. Stop

Nice? Yeah, let's call it THAT!

On the same topic of "subjective" .....others could view it as sarcasm (I'd like to think equating bees and barbiturates qualifies)....and others as a deep-rooted and disturbing passive-aggressive attitude (or other DSM diagnosis).

I just know if we didn't have NEPRT steam release to move certain things to I some of the other old-timers probably would have killed some innocent newbie by now. ;)

By the way....WELCOME to the forum McGyver74! :) :) :)

All FJRs are different, but the FJR has some inherent buzz, or vibration. It's probably my biggest gripe towards the FJR. But I still love it. And the vibration is significantly less than my old Concours.

Yeah, it buzzes or can be buzzy, but at least in my case it's manageable.

Keep on top of the TB Syncs, add some heavy bar ends and grip puppies cause that's about all you can do. My right hand does get numb at times, and I do feel it in my feet from time to time, but still I don't know what in the world I'd ride instead.

Thanks guys,

(I accidentally double posted this since after posting this thread, I couldn't find it again and thought it hadn't posted LOL, do i feel silly or what)

Considering I'm signing on for a loan I sure hope the buzz is minimal, that was the only thing I didn't like about my connie..took me years to get used to it and I'd hate to have to do that all over again..... :)

Refer to bike buying rule #1: Don't buy a bike you haven't ridden before, or one just like it. :)

McGyver,

Just like Skoot said, it ain't no where close to the vibes in the old Concours...nothing that some Grip Puppies/ $10, and a Good TBS (Throttle Body Sync & Possible Barbarian Mod) can't cure.

Good Luck with your purchase.... with a name like yours, we expecting some many wonderful things from you!

highly subjective ........... not at all it either does or doesn't and can be minimal and with syncs and mods go almost away as it has for some or can be very bad that no amount of syncs or mods will make go away..from personal experence...and yes I didn't follow rule #1 :banghead:

Buzz? What buzz? Am I missing something or totally numb? Only a few years back, I put 50k miles on my XS650 (paint mixer on 2 wheels) and loved it. More than a few years before that, I rode a Harley Sprint 250. Those two I remember as having some vibration; my FJR feels like a two wheeled Rolls in comparison. Like the man said, it's subjective.

Only feed 'em schwag McGyver...next thing ya know it'll be tier1 premium gas...sheeze...gimmeegimmeegimmee :yahoo: Seriously, welcome and you'll love it and mod info is aplenty on this board if ya need it...make sure to ask really pertinent questions on Friday's though as thats when our weekend passes start !
