If a bike goes down while stationary, it's a drop.

If it goes down while being ridden it's a wreck.

At what speed does a drop become a wreck?

Good question, I think it's up to the individual that wrecked, I mean dropped it.

Here's mine, less than 300 miles on my 07, Feburary in Cincinnati, at the dealer. Motorcycle parking is on an INCLINE. I'm backing out of the stall, in neutral, the "snow bank" had been melting and the pavment was wet (or was it ice?), anyway, I apply the front brake and the wheel locks up and the bike start to slide, all of this is in slow motion, as the bike goes TIMBER!

Did I mention, less than 300 miles?

Ok, must add here we don't have snow, ice or slippery roads.

We have sunshine 365 days of the year. We ride in the middle of Winter here without dressing like an Eskimo.

Bike heaven I tell ya!!!

Go look at some pics of our surroundings here www.insimbi.co.za go look in Gallery.

Maybe it is our good weather that is in my favour that I never dropped any of my bikes.............yet.......

On your sixth bike, pretty good. I've had about 20 or so, been riding 44 years. Dropped the second bike I ever owned, and had a hell of a time trying to get it back up right. Rode it to Ocean City , MD. Somehow, I can't remember now, I had to park it in the sand. I put a crushed Budweiser can under the kick stand. Started to walk away, someone said hey, your bike is falling. It was falling kind of slow like, but by the time I got to it, it was too late. Trying to pick up a bike in the sand is really tough, you can't get any solid footing. I was a young dude back then, a bunch of young chicks watching, talk about embarrassing. If you ride a motorcycle, IT will go down someday! Not the first bike I dropped, and probably not the last. You'll get over it, you'll look back and laugh about it someday.

Yep, me too. Stall on a right-hand turn attempt from a stop on a highly-crowned street 1,500 mile from home. Bike was only about a week old.
Dropped on right side. Looking back, I rationalize this incident by assuming that I, sub-consciously, was attempting to make certain the cam chain got enough lube....
so is left side drop perfect way to oil up the clutch plates ???

and it prevents your air horn mounted on the outside of the plastic from being destroyed in a right side drop...

you do have an air horn out there on the right side, don't you ???

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Mike in Nawlins'
