Don,

I am bringing my spot tracker. I am making the assumption that it will work with no needed changes.

When are you leaving for Berlin?

Bruce
Guten Tag Herr Bruce Cain, I fly to Berlin on Wednesday, August 1; arrive in Munich via train on Sunday, August 5 - 1530 hours. Yamafitter - Bill F. is an electronics wizard, I'll ask him about the SPOT!

On our way to Italy, cya on the 7th

Chris & Diana
How cool! Have a blast.

And on a separate topic: Who among the Alps folks will be using a Spot Tracker? I have decided not to renew my Spot account for now--just bringing way too many electronics already. But if you're bringing one, hope you'll post a link to it.

Thanks.
I'll have my spot tracker and will set the link up sometime next week as long as folks remember the riding does not start until Aug 9th. I could set it up for earlier but all it will show is the beer halls around Munich.

There are a few folks around here that are calendar challenged so I thought I should point that out.

All this stuff will be in my backpack as carry on and I'm quite sure when the backpack goes through the X-Ray at the airport there will be some eyebrows raised since there will be enough cables and batteries to power a small town.
Many thanks to you Bill, I'll forward this to AZ Beemers for Bruce, Daniel, Gary and the others to see. They also will appreciate this, let's the families know our locations!

I have a SPOT I do not have the tracker service added to it. I was about to add it and bring mine with me but if Bruce is bringing his I wont.

Bruce, I looked on SPOTs web site and Europe is covered with SPOT also do you have track Progress service added to your SPOT ?

On the subject of top cases and tank bags. I found some pictures on Edelweiss website from a group the did this trip in June. A few had a top case and I only seen 2 bikes with tank bags

Daniel
Many thanks, Daniel!

Landed in Munich, the base hotel is a few mins from the airport.

Dropped off the riding gear, there is a large locked storage room for just Edelweiss at Hotel Henry.

We are now headed South, crossed the Brenner pass and are currently at Riva del Garda.

I don't think the heated gear will be required guys its 34C at the moment.

Off to Tuscany, we found a farm house and are renting it with some friends before the tour

Chris

Hey Bill..... how are you attaching the GPS to the bike? Some kind of mount?
I'm going to bring my Touratech Mount from my WR450 that I hope can be bolted to the bike without too much trouble. I'm going to wire the power cord for the GPS with a SAE plug that will plug into the Powerlet adaptor cable I already have.

Great News: The Italians Are Coming, The Italians Are Coming!

Hey guys,

Looks like the Italian contingent (Teerex, Hook and Mek) will be in Levico on August 11 waiting for y’all to show up.

We have booked rooms at a hotel in the vicinity of Levico and, barring last-minute complications, we’ll arrive on Aug 10. On Sunday Aug 12, we’ll head back for home.

So, don’t make plans for dinner on Saturday Aug 11, ‘cause you’ve got company...

We look forward to seeing you again (and meeting those of you we haven’t yet met).

Have a safe trip over

Stef

Achtung Alps Extremists: Spend 19 minutes and memorize this Passo di Stelvio M/C video. This will the midday highlight of our second day out on the road, tighten up your jockstraps for this one!

Cool! Glad to see Stef is still up an about. Buy him a beer for me ya old fecker. I'll pay you back when I see you at Old Michael wedding to Rosie O'Donnell in La Pine.

Shit! I hope this wasn't a secret.

When I was reserving rooms the manager told me they had booked the honeymoon suite. In Lapine that is an extra stall in the barn but if OM is going to sleep with a hog I guess it doesn't matter. :p

Bejaysus ya fecking Jackass, Aye and Begorah you could **** up a bowling ball. Old Michael is betrothed to Sinead O'Connor, not Rosie O'Donnell you silly sheep screwer. It is an O'Keeffe-O'Connor matrimonial, not an O'Keeffe-O'Donnell wedding. Both fine Irish lasses, but not entirely the same. jes' sayin' and nuff' said!

Tonight we are going to unpack take inventory and repack. Tomorrow we are taking a jetplane.

There seems to be a few SPOTs going on the trip and yes I will be bringing mine along. I will try to keep mine on everyday and unlike Yamahafitter's we won't be seen in to many bars.

Thanks for the link, and have a safe flight. I've been making myself nuts going over my packing list again and again. And wondering what I'll manage to forget. And how much of this crap I'll be hauling all over Europe but never want (hoping it's the rain gear, but I doubt it). I've gotta wait till Thursday for my flight. Bouncing off the damn walls. NOT a patient man.

I hear ya Mike I hear ya!
Folks, from what I see for the two week look ahead weather forecast for the parts of Europe we will be riding in: Do not go overboard on packing for cold weather. Last night I went through my OGIO bag and took out sweatshirts and thermal underwear, unless the weather does a complete 180 degree turn these will not be necessary.

You absolutely must bring rain gear, but I would unpack all cold weather clothing! It will rain every afternoon in the Alps and Dolomites, pretty much can guarantee that!
