This mornings threads in the regional gathering sections were hotter than two teenagers in the back of their father's Buick on a hot August night. In an effort to head off such incidents in the future perhaps a formal structure is needed...

NFO (Replacing now mis-named CFO)

Illinois

Indiana

Iowa

Kansas

Michigan

Minnesota

Missouri

Nebraska

North Dakota

South Dakota

Wisconsin

EOM

Connecticut

Delaware

Kentucky

Maine

Maryland

Massachusetts

New Hampshire

New Jersey

New York

North Carolina

Forum members from each area can elect a Regional Benevolent Dictator who will approve/disapprove of any activity within the confines of said region. No event will be sanctioned by the Forum unless approved by the Regional Dictator in the area said event is to be conducted. Any incursions into enemy territory must be sanctioned by both of the Region's Benevolent Dictators and the board Uber Benevolent Dictator. Any Johnny-come-lately's will have to acquire territory by agreement of all Region and Board Benevolent Dictators. Should eliminate any future squabbles.

Other ideas??? Beuhler? Beuhler? :D

Whoa!

I don't think this board should be dragged into enforcing some sort of position of authority on sanctioning regional events. The issues this morning were mostly an individual that couldn't act even close to the bounds of decency and has been removed from the equation. I strongly encourage everybody to tread lightly, and seriously consider even joking out about it. This is not yet a resolved issue and I wouldn't want somebody else's feelings to get hurt and have to remove anybody else.

Seems too formal to me.

1) In reality there is overlap in the groups of people who meet. For example, many people from Florida attended EOM this year. Your boundary leaves the southeast out of that region.

2) No reason to request permission from the regional dictator to get together with friends. Just ask people if they want to ride and see who signs up.

If you want to declare regions and leaders for one premier annual regional event, then I can see what you're proposing, as long as you don't intend to keep people from beyond your regional borders from attending or voicing an opinion on the planning.

I am to the point where i dont care ... What has happend here RUINED my idea of a great time riding motorcycles with good people.

Could all this be related to the cooler weather coming in? :dntknw:

As far as a boundary for where we can meet, I say screw it. Lets remain friends with those we have already met.

I am a bit confused since i was at FJRChik's lets go to arkansas ride (SFO) and Smittys Hooterville rides. Do i have to pick and choose? I hope i dont have to make that decision!

I have kept somewhat quiet on this nightmare today and it's time too voice my view.

Other note:

Admins,

be easy on the trigger until you find out who the good guys are. :glare:

But this would lend structure and start a "formal" approval process for "sanctioning" events. The proposed event would need to move up through the chain and hopefully things like this would be nipped in the bud before the event made it to the public.

There must be some rules and approval process in place right now based on the conversations this AM. They just aren't published or written down anywhere apparently. (I may have read that into the dialogue this Am but it sure sounded like it.) This would make it a more transparent process. This would only apply to "sanctioned" events and "sponsorship" by the particular region. I am assuming all riders are still welcome!

I'm not trying to start trouble...just trying to keep the genie in the bottle in the future...where's Radman when you need him??? :D

Are you guys forgetting why we are riding bikes instead of seating in the offices? Why are we coming here on the middle of the day, when we get bombarded with a wacky requests from our customers, and I used this term loosely.

I am totally new to this group, and I liked what I saw so far, with the exception of this morning. Please do not ruin it for me.

Unless you are in CO please go and ride your tricycles for at least few hours and try to remember why you ever got on one and that this type of the forum is not to be used for any political/personal agenda of any kind.

(snip) ...where's Radman when you need him??? :D
It seems Radman got bent out of shape from a different situation earlier in the week and has walked away. Hopefully he is only taking a brief cooling off period and we'll hear from him again soon.

i'm also new to the site but what i saw this morning makes me sick. i spent a few hours looking for the rules before i signed up and i couldn't find any so i don't know what was so wrong about one person trying to organize a ride in arkansas? why was he told he couldn't do a ride in arkansas?

I think that MNFJR05 is just saying that the CFO will be held within the states on his proposed list and the other groups will be held within their respective list of states. Not that you cannot attend any other groups rides. This would result in not having two groups planning their meeting in one state.

I would agree with you, but I think at this moment this question better left on the shelf for a day or two.

I do not think that he got smoked for trying to organize it. But like I said, lets wall this one for a day. ;)

And what is so wrong with that? Since when we should dictated who rides where and with whom?

Gee, all this don't cross my border, I was first, its my idea, nobody can step in my state is a bunch of B.S. The thread on who can organize a ride in what state borders on a bunch of babies wanting to be the almighty dictator. Does this now mean we can't organize yearly Northern Ca. rides with a group without stepping on toes, don't go to Yosemite, its my ride in my park. The fun is gone for the people involved. Sound like little league parents. I guess its everywhere. Just give me a date and a place and I'll ride if I choose

You could have two meets in the same state. It would just get worked out and approved by the RBD's before it went out as a 'sanctioned' event to the public. Eliminates unintended event collisions, makes opportunities to collaborate, etc., etc..I'm bored with it for now...we shall wait and see what Powerful and Mightly Benevolent Dictator(Dale) decides to do upon his triumphant return to the board...

Why does it have to be approved by anyone is the question?

Let me get it right. Some guy or gal wakes up and says I will do all the ground work and set up a ride for ALL at such and such on so and so. I will do it out of good will with no expectation for a reward. Well, you can buy me beer. :D

Based on what I am hearing now this person is now going to have to go to a comeete (sp) and get it approved and sanctioned?

I hope not. because we will weed out a **** load of good people who do what they do just because.

Is anybody here interested in a weekend ride in Arkansas, anytime in the month of November, and dont tell me it might be too cold! cause it might not!

We will call it the AFO, ANY FORUM OWNER.

I think time trials over Push Mountain and back could be our highlight! Its reported that only 18 people have died on that road so far this year! and we still have 2 months left!

If that's the way it would works out FINE. But the vibe I got with some of my pm's from various people is that they didn't want to see CFO in Arkansas AT ALL.

I have to agree, there is way to much ego, childish behavior going on and it put a bad taste in my mouth. It will be a long time before I get the good feeling of being here reading with my fellow riding brothers. Which is too bad.
