Yes, the WV Ramble in spring of 2006 was my first FJR gathering. That was my older daughter Danielle that was with me that time, riding her SV650S. I have a few pictures from that rally but I can't find them today.

I bought mine in 2007.
First road trip on a motorcycle was to CFO-2007 in Custer, SD
Then a trip to visit my parents;
In 2008, I went to Arkansas and experienced my first (and only) SFO where it didn't rain
Then I went to CA where Hycle and JamesBurleigh showed me some great roads
Later that year, NAFO2008, with Mbottoms and Jackson. There's a picture of triggert reading a map somewhere in my colleciton;
In 2009, SFO;
then a ride to DFW;
then a ride to PDX; (thanks LDryder, blufjr, nofreeride (and lots of others));:...,""'
finally in 2009, CFO in LaCrosse, WI;
Last year I didn't go too many places. Just a trip to DFW (no pics ) and a trip to visit my parents.
This year I've made it to KY;
Back to DFW; crap, rode the "Three sisters" and some other decent roads, but no pics...

Yeah, we've been to quite a few interesting places, but maybe more importantly... We've met a whole bunch of extremely cool people.
I bought my '05 B4 in late-fall of '06, and barely got a handful of "get acquainted" rides in before the onset of white badness that year. It wasn't even until the following fall that we went on our first group ride (ever), which was theCovered Bridges of NH ride in '07.
My god it feels like a lifetime, but... that was only 4 years ago!
Wow, the people that we met on that very first group ride... No wonder we became instantly hooked!
Skip (Nice Rumble) was the best group ride leader ever. Whenever I lead a ride these days (which is pretty often) I think about that ride and the way that Skip managed the crowd. I miss him a lot, now that he has sworn off street riding altogether and only rides in the dirty stuff.
Alan (ionbeam) and good pillion Helen have become some of our best friends, riding or otherwise. The past few years they have been such welcome constant companions on countless local (and not so local) rides.
Iris and Jim (HerFJR and ZOOOM) are a very classy couple, if ever there was one. Not to mention that Iris' riding skills are SERIOUSLY MAD! What an eye opener (and ego deflator) to me as I was just learning to deal with the FJR, to see that small woman toss around a big FJR like it was nothin'...
John (JMarran) not in the picture, only because he was behind the camera. It's so funny that, we might not see John for a year, but then when we do, it's like he was just there last week. We like riding (and hanging) with John a lot.
Tom (snikr), Dan (BkrK12) and Charlie Hoss have all become regular ride companions since, though not so much of late. I know that Tom has retired now, which should mean that he has lots of time to get out next year. And hopefully Dan will get back with the NERDS Gang next spring. We all miss you, Dan. And good ole' Charlie is always raring for a good time and a good ride. 'Specially if there are any single womens around...
I really could go on and on, because each ride we've made has added another friend or two, or many. And all of you are equally near and dear to us. But I don't want to bore you any more with my own sappy introspection. Joann and I have met so many fantastic friends through the FJR Forum, people that have become inextricably intertwined in our own lives. People that are always fun to be with. People that we want to be with.
I think that my point is: You can ride to a lot of extremely cool places, and see a lot of shockingly beautiful things, but if you don't have some great friends at the end to share it all with it's like it never happened. It's like the zealous golfer that plays for years... decades. Always practicing and improving his game. Then one day he finally scores a "hole in one" when he is out by himself. It's like it never happened...
I think that maybe Mark (Wheaton) was already going there, because of the "milestones" he posted. Did anyone notice that they were all group gatherings of one kind or another? And I know certain others feel exactly this same way too (right DCarver!). It's just taken me a little longer to realize it.
From all of the splendid photos that are being posted (please, keep it up!!), I can see we haven't even begun to see all the beautiful places out there...
...yet! So, who wants to come along?

After a seriously disastrous group ride where I lost a number of very good friends, riders all?
Not so easy.
Somehow, maybe with age,
time passing,
I decided to try it again -
..and the fjr peeps came through in Aces
although still very, very choosy about who I ride with,
I'm not compressed, limited, to only the solo ride or singular hole in one episode.
For me, that's about as good as it gets!
Last summer, with NERDS, and group of neenernet buds I'd not met before, was a very good, perhaps excellent, opportunity to stretch the solo time and experiment with the 'groupies'.
For that, ever grateful.

While I don’t have an FJR, I’ve been lucky to attend several of the group festivities and meet some of the best people here… and a few others…
November 2008 - My very first FJRforum ride – the OrangevaleFJR Memorial Ride which is who/what brought me here – where I learned pretty much everyone was named Mike, lived in Sacramento, and rode a blue FJR
April 2009 - Dr. Rich’s Magical Mystery Ride
April 2009 – I met up with my friend, OM, for a photo adventure up Hwy. 49 on my inaugural ride on my new-to-me blue Yamaha… FZ1
April 2009 – Dr. Rich’s Bakery Ride – I miss Dr. Rich!
May 2009 – I invite RenoJohn to join us for a ride in the Gold Country… and he actually shows up!!
He unexpectedly stayed the evening at the B&B we were at due to a bit of this…
June 2009 – meeting with some of the nuthouse residents for lunch at Alice’s
July 2010 – my first official FJR gathering for WFO… it was a bit foggy in the mornings…

And finally got to meet Patriot while on traveling to attend a wedding… no motorcycles were involved this particular visit but if it hadn’t have been for this forum, I never would have met him!
Next summer I’m looking forward to again traveling to Canada, this time on the road instead of in the air, and attending NAFO 2012 to see friends and make a few new ones… I know the bike is what brought the majority of us here but it’s the people that keep us here… I am really blessed to know you all.
