Squirly kid , lol. I like that. thanks for the def. No have still not decided. I am all over the place. I have thought a lot about this.....and am still not closer, in fact I am farther away. Like said before, I am primarily looking for a commuter, but want to be able to do it all as well...a friend mentioned the VFR (said it was the best bike on the market) a little smaller and great MPG. So of course that got me looking at it, and what do you know I saw all the litre superbikes, the 1000RR, ZX10 &14, the Yamaha (what is that F1), the GSXR and Busa, and so on and so forth...at any rate the search for the perfect bike continues.... I did go and sit on the VFR, very nice, but only an 800 (like I said before, I am a big guy, 6-2 and 260lbs) not sure a 800 would be big enough. Let me hear your thoughts. Thanks

VFR are great bikes for what they do, but they have always lacked in the power department. I'm small, 5'8" 160lbs and the VFR was still slow.

I came off of a Triumph Sprint ST. Have you considered one of them? they are a litre bike that are impressive in the power department and with some comfort to boot.

Will you go buy a freakin' FJR already!

....or at least go ride one so you know yourself what a great bike it is.

I mean, what are the chances that we're ALL (including the ex-ST owners) wrong!?!? ;)

Here, I clicked on the thread to see what you decided, and still, more paralyzing indecision!!!!

I know one thing for sure, when you DO decide, you're gonna regret not making the decision sooner.

OK, I'm done busting your chops now :p

As you were.....

I'll second what SPORT said, and also suggest looking at a Triumph Tiger, and the Buell Ullyses. You've got long enough legs to take advantage of some of the really cool taller bikes, IMO. The new 07-08 Tiger is more on the sportier side of riding. If you can still find a new 06 Tiger, you'd have a great economical commuter and very comfortable bike. Disadvantages: chain drive if that's an issue, replacing windscreen a must. I owned one with a 955i, no concerns about power and a very pleasant torque curve.

Huh? A VFR is slow?

They may have less power than a 1300cc FJR or 1100cc Triumph, but they are far from slow.

Does this look slow?

I've owned many VFRs including the current 800 and it is a great bike. But you are on the larger side and one thing you will find about the FJR is that many of the people who own them are large humans. For longer trips the 800 was as sporty as I could stand and I'm 6', 180. The FJR is much more spacious and with a set of highway pegs and a good seat it works for very long trips. The plus side of the VFR would be that it is a bit lighter for commuting and a bit sportier. It's all about choosing how much sport and how much tour you want.
