You may get here before them Don.. Major rainfall - almost 7 inches in some areas- last night has shut down both I 69 and I 75 through Flint most of the day and I'll be darned if they don't have to travel 69.

Maybe an omen?

Grrrreeeeaaaaat. At least they're in a cage.

Hopefully that crap will move through before we get up there.

Should be leaving around 4:30 or so and are heading to Milford.

Well, seeing how its 6:45 PM and I'm still at work, I would say it is official that I'm not going to be there.

Got a lot of work done the last couple days, and even toyed with the idea of going. In the end, reasoning prevailed and I'm staying at work this weekend to get this project done and off my desk.

You'd better believe I'll be ready to tie on a good one next weekend in Ohio. :drinks: And I'll do my best to make it to Tech Day V.

It sounds like you guys have the entire day to kill. So to help fill in the time, I think I'll call my buddy that works the bridge - Can you say "cavity search on lane 3." Have a nice trip..
You bastage! Is that why the lineup was way over to the Canadian side and we got stuck there for over an hour? Luckily we got into Lane 2 so cavity search avoided............

Well another tech weekend has come to a close and this time not 1 bike is spending the week with me despite my best efforts to wreck sumpin

Good times good peeps and a whole lota work got done.

To the regulars Ray, Bill, Andy an Sooze, Tom and Pam, Wayne, Jeff ...... Thanks for being who you are, you make these little gatherings enjoyable, without your help they would be trying and maybe impossible to pull off.

I can't thank you enough. :)

To the first timers.. I hope you guys had fun an maybe picked up a few pointers for when you decide to work on your bikes, That's what it's all about. The party atmosphere might be the best part but serious work does get done as you seen.

Hope you guys come back for the next one, Tell others and drag 'em along..

Gurly mode here..

Only bad part is watching the bikes, especially the last bike leave.... I guess I have too much fun an enjoy everyone. Sue me. :p

Thanks again all of ya, I had a great time. :clapping:

Great times indeed.

Turns out my Z8's did not have as much life left in it as I thought. Here's what it looked like after pulling it off at Bill's this morning.

Sooze and I are home, safe and sound after taking a mostly-no-slab ride home. Turned an otherwise 3 1/2 - 4 hour ride into a 6 1/2 hour ride and the weather was utterly perfect, if a little windy here and there.

Thanks to Bust and MizzBust for hosting us and putting up with us.

Thanks to Bust for walking me through front-wheel removal (it stayed on the whole way home!! Yay!!) and to yamafitter for bringing his NoMar and changing out my front tire. The difference in handling is night and day!

It was great seeing the Usual Gang once again, and it was also nice meeting Bill (don't think I got your forum ID) and crumpadump. Crump - hopefully next time you'll be able to ride up and experience those awesome Michigan roads!

Discussions have already ensued regarding Tech Day V, or, what crap does BikerGeek's bike need that he doesn't have the slightest clue how to do. So we'll prolly throw something together for the fall.

Oh - and I'll post up some pics later.

First off special thanks to Sheila & Bust for hosting another fun event. Also thanks to Pam & Sheila for keeping us feed for the weekend while we hung out in the garage wrecking stuff. Thanks to Andy for not breaking too much stuff so we did not have to spend the entire weekend working on his bike. Also thanks to Ray for providing me with the tapered roller bearing kit for my steering stem maintenance.

After a successful weekend without any major problems to resolve it was time to pack up for the trip home. When we went to load Ray's bike this morning it would not start. Ray kind of looked at me funny and asked what I thought what might be wrong.

I thought of three options:

  1. Some doofus forgot to plug in the fuel pump power connector & fuel level sensor connector when re-installing the tank.
  2. Bust got drunk and wreaked something.
  3. The FJR Fairies got under the tank during the night and unplugged the connectors under the tank.
Option 2 was out since I was with Bust & Andy drinking that night and we were too drunk to wreak anything but ourselves.

Ray is not a doofus so it must have been those pesky FJR Fairies. Ray was not convinced at first since he doubted the existence of FJR Fairies until I reminded him of Beemerdons.

We lifted the tank and sure enough the leads were not connected. Plugged everything in and the bike fired right up. A stop in Port Huron was required because it was the first Tim Horton's on the way home. We also filled up with gas for my truck and stopped in at the duty-free for supplies. The bridge crossing was the exact opposite of the trip going to Bust's and we were across the bridge and rolled into Canadian Customs without stopping. We then got asked if we had the ownerships for the bikes in the trailer. I had all my documentation but some doofus had left his ownership at home so it was off to secondary inspection.

I had visions of sending the next week as we tried to clear this up with Canadian Customs but all they asked was whether the bikes had Ontario plates. We answered to the affirmative and we were allowed to continue on our way without even opening the trailer.

One more stop at the next Tim Horton's in London and I dropped off Ray & all his gear before continuing through Toronto which went unbelievably smoothly.

So I'm home safe & sound and have survived another Bust Tech Day. Thanks to all that dropped in on the UStream broadcast and tune in next time in the fall when we complete wreak Andy's electrical system.

Andy's current electrical system is a marvel of science in that we found the positive lead on the battery not even connected but by some fluke of nature the bike would still start on occasion. Remember that Andy changed his own battery a while back and given Andy's proficiency with tools the current state of Andy's FJR electrical system does not come as a surprise.

My belief in the FJR fairies was infact strengthened this weekend....How the hell that 'floating" positive lead ever allowed that bike to crank is nothing short of amazing..

Seroiusly the tension from it being bent outta position was the only contact with power, yet not only did it start it charged the system........... :dribble:

The PR2 fells damned good btw Andy.. I managed 150 miles this afternoon and my confidence in it's tracking ability only improved as the miles added up. Me anus never clinched the whole ride and I was riding dumb most of it..
