As promised, a piece of video from my recent trip through the French Alps. This is filmed from my FJR as I am seriously ripping up the Great St. Bernard pass.

Please forgive my spastic attempt for video editing; this is the first movie I made. I guess since I shot 5 hours worth of video on this trip, I will know how to do it by the time I am done with everything....

Currently I am running Metzeler Sportec M3 tires on my FJR. Grip like glue, but unfortunately they also wear quite a bit.

So I bailed on Eur06 to go to Colorado because I had promised a buddy I would go with him and had it all set up and the time blocked out yada yada. He bailed at the last minute - I went by myself. And now you post this video.

I'm feeling a little sick. The rockies were fun but the Alps are it. What have you heard about Eur06.2?

Damn...hell of a video...had to watch it a few times slightly changing the environment. The credits of the music never showed up. I thought the second song was hillary duff, but, same difference. Music had to change. Red Barchetta from rush was started about 30 seconds into it. Lined up nicely with the "alloy air car" part. Camera eye was put on the third pass through but outlasted the video. Had goose bumps the whole time, though. Nice....very nice.

Hey Wally, what are you doing up here? Gonna trade the VFR for a Feejer? Man you sure missed out on a lot of fun passes. Only 30 something this ride.

Eur06-2 is not going to happen, but possibly Eur07 next year. Btw, you should hook up with Jim. He's in Atlanta coming Tuesday.

Forgot the music credits. Than again, just slapped this together in a few minutes not really knowing what I was doing as it was the first time. Most of my music is slower than the pace of the ride, so I didn't have a whole lot to chose from. Glad you enjoyed it though.

I still have the VFR, but my SO hated the back seat so . . .

I got an FJR last summer so she could have a bit more room back there, and the topcase to make her feel secure and provide a place for her necessary stuff. And unfortunately I will be out of Atlanta on Tuesday. I will keep my eyes peeled for '07 because I'm not going to miss another one.

Man oh man....done some passes like that in a cage but never on a bike. Not a whole lot of room for error on those roads either. Great job with the camera work. Any chance of getting the speedo and tach in the frame?

Unfortunately no, my GPS blocks the view. You can just see the top edge of the GPS in the vid.

Smooth is good. Smooth can be fast without drawing too much attention. Of course a big ass touring bike with bags like the fjr helps too in that department.

That was great! Makes me miss Europe so much. I spent 8 years in Germany and loved it. I had a BMW R1150RT that I took all over Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland). Great place to ride. Best of all, the people over there are very concience of motorcycles, unlike here in the states. Great ride man! :yahoo: :clapping:

You got it! 9 years Active and just got recalled for the War on Terror for another 1 1/2 years. Except this time I am in Tampa loving the "sights" along the beaches....... :yahoo: I would love to take the FJR over to Europe for some riding. I really loved riding the Swiss Alps. Wish I thought to video my rides. I know for next time. Ride safe!

WOW! Hot damn, that was fun! I rode that pass way back in 1981 on my brand new BMW R100RS (AKA "gummikuh" ).

I still have a Gr St Bernard pass pin (of many such collected).

Folks, those Alpine roads are as narrow as they appear, having been built as cobblestone paths by the Romans!
