Hope all arrived home safely and enjoyed the NAFO. The Staff planned and excecuted a magnificent event, the Marriott was an excellent facilty choice, and we all had a chance to see the beauty of Colorado and other points as we traveled to and from the NAFO.

Below find the "HANDLES" of those that attended the breafast. So as to not disclose email addresses or home stations, I chose to use only HANDLES to make contact with each other via forum PM. FYI I have data on 19 folks.

Lastly, we talked about a design for a sticker and all agreed to have a selection of the best contest. Now let get busy with our ideas and get it done!!

PS, great to be able to meet so many neat folks at NAFO. :yahoo:

PS: MCML would you accept the role as the collector of the sticker design??

The breakfast was a great idea, Dave. What fun!

I STILL think a great sticker idea would be to have TurboDave's picture with "FJR Forum.com" across the top border and "Vintage Riders" across the bottom border.

I'd put one on by top case!

What constitutes being an FJR vintage rider? An older FJR is still relatively young. Are FJR vintage riders people who own FJRs but also ride something from the age of AHRMA? Or earlier?

One would guess that you might have paid attention to the threads from WFO-6 and NAFO where Dave put together a breakfast for the more (physically) mature riders, not their machines.

In Park City the suggested age was over 60 but since so many were on the cusp of that age (or wouldn't admit they qualified) he lowered the suggested requirement to a mere 50 years of age for NAFO.

Nope, didn't see WFO-6 at all, and didn't follow the thread in the recent NAFO planning.

I guess I've never seen a group refer to the riders as "vintage" rather than the machines.... but that's what makes life interesting.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Well, this thread is posted under NAFO. And those who attended were referred to and not "Riders of Vintage Machines". But, at least the air is cleared and all understand the reference is to the riders themselves. IIRC, the oldest in attendance was 74 and still riding strong.

I repeat my suggestion of using Dave's picture on the sticker/decal....

Below are candidate pics per the suggestion of MM2. I think it appropriate for others to submit examples and then lets vote and get on with the making of the logo. Look forward to having return comments and other candidate logos.

I know we are all in mourning and deeply saddened by the passing of Tim.

I did not find this thread until this morning. First the long ride back, then the tragedy. Dave, I will be happy to accept the role as collector of the potential sticker designs.

For a couple of reasons I think that Dave's visage would make a perfect logo for the group! First of all, he IS the quintessential vintage rider based on his experience, attitude, ability to overcome adversity, enthusiam and accomplishments. Second, if any of us came accros a photo of him from some totally unrelated source we would still recognize that face as perfect for our purposes. You know, as in the way the NBA uses Jerry West's sillouette for thier logo without really mentioning where they got it from.

Sorry, Dave. I know you ain't in this for recognition but I think that you are going to have to accept this.

Here is one more shot on which to possibly base the design:

So send me your photos of Dave or post them here and we'll pick one and take it from there. Decals, hats, engravings, keychains, coffee mugs, lunch boxes, you know, moichendizeeng!

I attended the first meeting of the Vintage Riders last year at WFO, but you old guys get up too early for me. I slept through the breakfast this year.

Joe, I think THIS is the photo! It would need to be cropped so we get a good head & shoulder picture with part of the windshield. :yahoo:

The helmet is raised, the yellow sunglasses, Dave's inimitable face: Perfect!

When I grow up, I want to be just like Uncle Dave!!!!

Well, I didn't even know about the Forum til after last yrs WFO, much less this Senior thing, and I'm afraid I missed the call and was sleeping off my previous nite's bar tab during the NAFO VRBreakfast [damn good thing I can't get away w/ stumblin' outa the bar every nite slurring "just charge it to my room", I'd be in deep doodoo real quickly...]! ...and though I believe I'm older [& balder] than Dave, I think Mike's suggestion is spot-on; I mean, what th'hey, he does have the quintessential mugg! ...and after all this seems to have been his very own little brainstorm! The gas pump photo is a good'n I'd agree, but maybe the logo oughta include a snappy [smart-***] slogan/motto of some sort "still crazy after all these beers, ..er, years" or "Ya gotta be young'n'dumb 'fore ya can be as nuts as us", ...maybe thats another contest ?

There'll be no room on the sticker for any slogans. Dave's smiling face is perfect...

with the two agreed upon texts:

"FJRForum.com" across the top

"Vintage Riders" across the bottom.

GUNNY. I'm with you Mike. :)

Just playing around with the tools currently available (resolution, fonts, photos, etc.). Still looking for ideas, but something based on this could work out just fine:
