I spoke with Gary (photographer of that killer Yosemite image) and he likes the sticker idea and will allow us to use his image. Thank you Gary. Your photography is breathtaking!

Ed, can you forward me the highest resolution copy of Dave's image when you have a moment and I'll put the two images together for you (my email is in your PM).

Hi Rick,

Thank you for your very kind compliments, and especially for your

concern for copyright.

This group seems like a very worthy cause ;-) so I would be happy to contribute.

The image on the web is very low resolution...only about 400kb...so if

the group decides to use it I would like to provide a higher

resolution image, assuming I can dig the original scan out of the

archives. Even though the sticker is small, I think more pixels are

needed for best quality.

Thanks again for writing.

Best regards,

Gary

Thanks, Richard. The whole thing is built on that shot. And thanks FNG for getting the permission from Duff for the waterfall.

Slappy has said we can use fjrforum.com in the Vintage Riders logos as long as we're not selling them for a profit.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone, we're that much closer...

Squezzer and all involved thanks for getting the group decision implemented and the various items available.

I appreciate the free usage of the pics, waterfall and forum approval. Just as another thought, I propose a slight markup and then those dollars be passes bacl to Slapnpop to maintenance of the forum. Anyone want to respond?

Let make a decision and get the rubber(ie. items) om the road!!

I've thought a lot about that, actually, and decided that over the long term it's a bad idea.

The problem is that it commits someone to doing the accounting and shooting off a check to slappy for all eternity. At the moment, that person would be me and that's just more of a commitment than I'm willing to make. Or if, God forbid, I should go down next week, then my wife is stuck doing that for all eternity and she doesn't even ride.

We could get around this by having someone else set up a cafepress site who is interested in keeping track of this stuff in perpetuity, but eventually they wouldn't, and then we'd end up being in violation of the permission granted by slappy because the markup would be sitting in their account, making them a profit that isn't being sent on.

After running through about a zillion scenarios, I figured in the end that if people want to support the site, they should skip the middleman and just send money directly to slappy. If you want to send him 5 bucks every time you buy a t-shirt, I think it's a noble gesture and I encourage you to do it. Trying to shuffle it through an intermediary who runs the storefront, however, will eventually come to grief.

A no markup, no profit policy on this stuff seems the most practical long term idea to me.

Major props to Rick Weller, aka Fat Naked Guy, for reworking Dave's photo and including the waterfall. It looks great, guys.

Unfortunately, I have several deadlines early next week, so it will take me a few days to put the logo back together and get the new graphic onto the stuff at the cafepress web site. We should have everything ready by the end of next week.

Hopefully we all understand business and busy-ness.

Let us know when the finished product is ready so we can order our "special" Olde Pharte's...er..uhm...Vintage Rider's goodies.

I'm going to proudly display an "uncle Dave" decal on my bike...and maybe a shirt or two.

The goodies on the website are not quite ready yet, but here's a jpeg of the final logo design, presented for your dining and dancing pleasure...

We're up! We're selling! I'll start a thread on the swag soon (I've asked Iggy where he'd like that thread started).

But you can get the stuff with the new logo now. It's all here.

One big request please: Although I've been pleased with everything I've received from cafepress in the past, I can't afford to order everything on the site, so I haven't actually seen all the products in person. If you order something and are concerned about the quality, please let me know so I can remove it from the swag list.

Now -- get that sticker, hat and/or shirt and represent, you geezers.

Thanks, it was a fun project to work on.

Gary Jean is actually the photographer of the fantastic Yosemite background and here is his website to check out his incredible work. https://garyjean.zenfolio.com/

Duff turned me onto Gary's website a couple weeks back while we were talking about streaming video and killer Canon L series lenses!

And great photo of Dave, Richard! I think it makes the sticker.

By the way, I am only seeing the earlier version of the sticker on your website. Perhaps I need to deleteeeeeeee da' cookies or something..

You're right. It's kinda weird -- when you click on the sticker, the first picture you get is with the old design. If you click on "View Larger," you get the new logo. I'm not sure what's up with that. I don't think it's your browser -- I tried clearing my cache and it didn't make any difference. I think it's because cafepress caches its thumbnail images on its own server. It will probably take a day or two for the changed images to show up in the thumbnails. At any rate -- what you see in the "View Larger" window is what you're getting.

Just placed an order. Stickers, hat and golf shirt. Thanks to all that made this possible. And a special thanks to TURBODAVE.

Got my order as promptly as the delivery I chose was economy. The white vintage hat is cool as well as the golf shirt. Very good quality for the money. Not a Nike shirt but i didn't pay $60 either. Stickers are stellar! thanks to all that made this possible. Mike in Fremont, Ca.

Just placed a small order - a sticker for my '04.

It'll be the first sticker that I have put on the bike but I am thinking about putting a FYYFF sticker on at the same time.

Got my shirts, decals, white ballcap today. I agree the quality is darn good. Even the decals with that ole crusty senior grizzly puss displayed on them. My ?? was really excited(In Spades) with the THONG. Will probably get many more of them and spread them around as bonii to select lovelies on my runs!!:)>)
