i like my wings mild, not to spicy
I've had Baker wings on earlier bikes which helped greatly with heat and cold issues, so I am looking to add them to my '13 FJR when possible, especially as I had to add a taller, wider CalSci windshield. The new shield gives me a very dead air space with no buffeting or back pressure up to and above 90 mph, but it also made my ride pretty warm today at only 80 degrees. Please post pictures of your mounting solution, as I would love to figure out the easiest way to implement. Thanks.Yours truly built the first set of airwings for the FJR. They were the solution to the heat problem on the Gen I's. They also added the benefit of keeping the heat around in colder weather. My dad and I machined a couple of aluminum blocks and bolted them through the stalks on my FZ1 mirrors I had installed. The mirrors remained still throughout the speed range. As for mileage impacts, it was not noticeable. No different than having your hand in the wind. My mount allowed me to tilt them ever so slightly outward to send air down in the hot months and keep the heat off the legs too. My wings went with my 05 to whoever is buying from the dealer I traded my 05 into. I am building a new mount for my 2013. I have the mirror extenders on the factory mirrors. I am going to build an aluminum plate that will go between the extender and the mirror. I am cutting down a set of GoldWing wings so I can match the mirror angle instead of the funky inverted look of the Bakers. I am going to build mine a little long to see if I can get air down to my legs as well without changing angles. Pictures will be forthcoming when my mount is finalized.
If you have a and FJR, year doesn't matter, the air wings are a good investment. They making riding the FJR even more enjoyable. Many members here hate the look. I will put up with it for the additional comfort, hot and cold, that they provide.
