Were your leathers totalled too?

Travelling with the lap top.

We mainly staying at BestWestern's, they have internet conections or Wi Fi.

I may be able to keep using the leathers with some repair work.

Well I heard from the insurance company....the Fjr is a write off. <_<

I've been offer $7000.00 less than it's insured value. :angry2:

Now I need to roll up my sleeves and go to battle. :(

Sorry to hear about your get off (knocked off?) but glad it's just aches and pains. Sorry about your insurance leeches, too.

Rode a 6 at WFO and liked it. Wasn't too fond of the AE, but the bike still felt good. Shift points were a little higher on the speedometer due to the higher gearing, but it still felt like home.

Mark, you have to get your bills together from all that you have put into the bike, lots!!!!! Why would you have paid the extra each year for the additional coverage?? Your were encouraged to do so, as was I with the same company, so insist that they provide the coverage or be sued. There are a lot of motorcyclists in BC who insure with these guys and if you have any problems let me know. I will talk to you off line about it.

I've been checking into the FJR's for sale on the Forum.

There seems to be a fairly good selection on the West Coast.

It could be a option for me, depending on how I make out with the insurance underwriters.

Hell man, If Ida nowd you was in Cedar City Ida run down from Salt Lake and let you ride my 06 (Not with Beemers around though)

If I can help with your other bike (since I am about 3 hours north of Cedar City, and have a trailer) Lemme know. I will run down and get it and it can live in my trailer for a bit. That is of course if you are gonna get it back.

From your insurance company? Or the guy that rear ended you? I would call your agent, explain to him in a calm, but extrememly frim voice that this is unacceptable and ask him to handle it.

What company is this by the way?

In my past life I owned and insurance agency and dealt with this stiuff all the time. Here is what the definition of insurance is "To put you back in the state that you were in prior to the mishap" I was under the impression you had an un-bent bike?

You do NOT have to accept an offer of any kind. it is math to them. THREATENING to get an attorney involved is generally enough to make them calculate the cost of fighting with you against giving you what they want. The cost of fighting is more than you want on top of the offer.

I am not saying go to court. But Calmly let them know you are serious. Then tell them since you are serious you would like a serious offer (tell them your neck hurts too, J/K)

Offer is from the government run insurance company.

I'll spend the weekend looking for what receipts, I have.

I was in on lots of group buys and bought farkles at WFO meetings.

Also purchased from Bike Johnny, FJR Goodies, Cal Sport and others.

Paypal was used as a method of payment many times.

I'm dealing with a private insurance company for coverage.

Our basic insurance is only available through a Government run insurance company. (they'll be the ones paying my insurance company)

I was rear ended, so...there is no question about who's at fault.

I will have to prove the insured value.

I'm hoping that pictures will help out....alot.

Remember, PHOTOSHOP  Git em dude

" Pm Quicksilver he rode my 06 and I rode his 04 (03 maybe) we traded for 30 min to an hour on some twisties at EOM. Get his op on the 06."

A few differences.

1. My 03 with new Avons vs 06 with cupped Mets:

The 03 turned in noticably quicker. I believe the 06 has a longer wheels base.

I prefered the 03. I am sure many would prefer the 06. Depends on how agressive you want to be.

It would have been more interesting if we had the same tires.

Avons are known to have a little quicker turn-in.

2. The only significant passenger comment was the 06 had less options for foot placement.

After years on the FJR, she has learned to put her heels on the luggage mount in the hard core twisties.

(She doesn't like it when her feet touch. On the dragon and on the snake, it can happen)

High placement isn't possible on the 06. If she didn't have 4 years on an 03, I am sure it would not have mattered.

3. 06 snatch is something noone has every even discussed with earlier models.

I didn't understand how serious it was until I experienced it while leaned over.

4. Gearing is different. 06 gears are a little taller and probably easier to ride with.

But the 03 is more likely to take an aggressive curve more in the power band.

5. I like the 06 instrument cluster. Bigger spread on the speedo would be nice though.

6. Of course, everyone says an '06 is better to ride on a 100 degree day.

DH had a similar experience - except that he was on the BMW and encountered a careless driver. His K12 was just two months (aka two payments plus a $3K deposit) old. Granted it was high mileage, at 6K, but the initial offer from the insurance would have left us owing about $2K on the loan. Our attorney explained that the offer was not high enough and they came back with a check for about $1K, plus paying off the bike. When the case finally settles, we will also get our deductible back.

Full marks to State Farm, who reimbursed for leathers, helmet, gloves, boots and clothing, without deducting ANY depreciation.

Problem up here is that ICBC, the Insurance Corp of BC, affectionately known as IckyBicky, loves to **** claimants around. Maybe they think that they're doing right by the public to lowball and draw out settlements until the claimant gets fed up and accepts whatever just to get it over with, or maybe there's an overabundance of SOB adjusters. And don't you worry, Mark's not the only one they'll be trying to screw; they'll try to stick it to the rear-ender and raise rates for all motorcyclists in BC.

When dealing with ICBC there is only one thing to remember: BOHICA.
