Can't be far of BBG pace for some riders to get back in time.
That is the - 3 day summary from Saturday....I don't think this was posted yet. Day 3 summary on the IBR 2015 site:

How much will the timing of this rally affect the results? National parks and monuments on the 4th of July weekend. Devious planning.
I caught a screen shot of the rider who went to New Orleans (I laughed pretty hard when I zoomed in):This is just so much freaking fun. The guy in New Orleans might be getting pummeled by some storms. I'm guessing that may be why he seems to be statinary at the moment. At a place called "Iggy's" no less.
26 hours to get back and at least the one near Umatilla is 1300 miles if they snag just the John Day one. My guess is they're snagging some others on the way, but I'd say they're right in the butter range for miles per day for the IBR. The rubber band is starting to tug on those outliers though.....Can't be far of BBG pace for some riders to get back in time.
Fixed it for yaSo, when I decided to move from the closed gas station to wait on the freeway entrance ramp, several minutes before I figured he'd flash by, he was already 10 minutes beyond me. And a 10-minute head start at 80 mph is too risky to close on a public highway.
Ya, I think some riders will be down to the wire. ..24'ish hours to go as I type this.26 hours to get back and at least the one near Umatilla is 1300 miles if they snag just the John Day one. It opens at 8:00 and I believe the window is from 8:00 to 10:00. After that it ain't pretty." The checkpoint opens Thursday at 8 PM (MDT), with penalty points assessed at 1% of arrival points per minute. "
I don't understand. Are all 87 riders expected to check in at 8:00?
Not all at 8, no. Check-in takes about 5-10 seconds and stops the clock. If all 80 showed up at exactly 8:00:00 it could be an issue, but practically speaking it is not. Many will be there hours earlier....scoring as early as 5 p.m. IIRC. However, once the clock stops they have a certain amount of time to make it through scoring and that takes some hours depending one when you arrive.I don't understand. Are all 87 riders expected to check in at 8:00?

Per first post in this thread:" The checkpoint opens Thursday at 8 PM (MDT), with penalty points assessed at 1% of arrival points per minute. "

The Checkpoint window is, in effect, the penalty point window prior to DNF. It confused the crap out of me some years ago when I first encountered the concept." The checkpoint opens Thursday at 8 PM (MDT), with penalty points assessed at 1% of arrival points per minute. "

Kinda. The PENALTY window opens at 8 pm and runs until 10 pm. After 10 pm, DNF.In other words, you aim for 8 pm as the deadline and arrive before then.It opens at 8:00 and I believe the window is from 8:00 to 10:00. After that it ain't pretty."
