My boy had his only pair of dress pants stolen two days before graduation :glare: These kids shell out almost 2 grand for uniforms now..
Bust Old Buddy, bring your Papa Chuy Viejo up to speed here. I did my US Army Basic Infantry Training Oct.-Dec. of 1968 and all of our personal possessions were taken away from us and shipped home; everything we had at Fort Ord, California was OD issue. So, recruits now keep their own personal gear?

Next question, do Soldiers now have to pay for their own uniforms? Really don't know the answer to this, but it shocks the living hell out of me!!

His civeys he wore out there were kept in a "secure" area and returned on Grad day..Not sure if the other branches pay for the gear, but yeah he shelled out 2/3rds of his pay for his stuff

I'll give you a call later today and get ya up to speed.

They have to pay for their uni's? - Somehow that just ain't right. I'd happily pay more tax to afford our young proud and serving Americans a uniform or two. Seriously.

If I recall correctly it is an accounting thing. Back in my day you were "given" a uniform allowance that was immediately taken back to "pay" for your uniforms.

The only shot we have to date
Holy crap! Having met your son before he joined, neither Sooze nor I would have EVER guessed that was him!

And total pisser about his stuff being swiped. My cousin's daughter's relative-newly-wed husband is an Army Ranger. After getting married he got stationed in Afganistan. After he was deployed, when his wife went to work, their home was broken into by opportunistic thieves. Bastages are gonna have mean old Miss Karma catch up to 'em some day.
